riding days are over

I hope you are recovering well and get over the psychological trauma quickly too

Good to hear you’re mending.

I had a very bad car accident a"few" years back. (Black ice, humped back bridge, Derbyshire stone wall. Need I say more?) and I never wanted to get back into a car again. First few drives some weeks later, particularly the drive back to the accident scene in the middle of winter, were a bit of a trauma but it passes with time.

I’ve given up biking a couple of times in my life. It didn’t last. If you are a biker, you’ll be back riding next spring. Or the one after.

If not, just take away the good memories and blank the bad.

sad news hope you recover soon, let time do its thing, all the best,

gws soon i dun four ribs and a collar bone this year so i feel yr pain. yes yr right about the feeling of not wanting to ride again but time will tell:)

but atm fk the bikes get yaself better. watch out for the side effects of pain killers ie they stop you going to toilet!! also if you take tramadol it can give you funny weird dreams or keep you awake just keep a check on what yr taking as soon as you can get off them do so

any questions feel free to ask ,pm if you like

sorry to hear this mate and to a fellow YID get well soon

Eek! Sorry to here that. Speedy full recovery!

Bad turn of events but the fact that you’re alive and relatively fit is the best result.

No surprise you don’t want to ride a bike again, sometimes I don’t want to ride mine either.

We’re all just glad you’re still with us and you shed blood for what you love. Respect given.

You’ll still be an LB’er regardless of your future.

You’ll be back on a bike again… well thats unless you just rode for convenience which i doubt…

Hope you get a nice payout to buy the next bike

GWS

GWS I hope you’ll keep an open mind about two wheels, never say never.

once again thanks everyone

Yeah. After starting bike riding at 18, 30 years later Istill love it. When you feel better don’t give up something you love justbecause of some arse in a car, they’re not worth you missing out on somethingyou enjoy.

Hope you get well soon mate, these things freak you out but there are other options…

I dont ride on the road much these days, get a track bike and or and enduro bike, have fun get your kick and also you only have your self to blame when you end up in plaster! :Whistling:

ive had the police round and what ive said in my statement tallys up with the witness in the car behind me which is good.the police are looking to nick the driver for unsafe driveing or somthing along those lines.

this is what happend ive come off a round about and was following 2 cars the road is a bit twisty for about a mile then straightens up.all the time through the twisties the car that hit me had his left indicator on which i dont know why.he also told the police that he could hear i was behind him, once the road had staightend out ive gone for the overtake as the cars were moving at around 25 ish,as i got along side the car that hit me he has lurched out to over take and wiped me out.the police man didnt want to tell all that happend when the car first hit as he said im prob best not to know but i ended up sliding into a brick wall with the bike following me then landing on me,

it all happend so fast and i dont recall the car hitting me just it lurching over.all i can remember after is laying on the floor with lots of legs in my sight and i could hardly breath.

the reason i dont want to ride any more is i cannot put my misses and 2 kids through that again seeing me in ICU for 4 days with tubes and a mask on must have been hell for them.

i believe that my leathers, boots ect saved me so make sure you wear it all the time peeps.

i will still visit the forum from time to time all tho i wont be a biker anymore as you are all a nice bunch of peeps as the messages shows.

once again many thanks to thos who have posted on this thread

Rest up fella you’ve made the right choice for you and that’s all that matters.

i might have some vouchers from the insurance for replacement lid and leathers for sale soon

GTW soon martin,i felt the same way after a crash but once you heal up you’ll probably change your mind

i hope you do,the world needs more bikers

been told by insurance that i wont get the cost of new leathers or lid.can they do this?

It’s down to the terms of your insurance. Mine specifically states they are covered. Check all the details of your terms & conditions and your schedule it should clearly state what is included.

Indicators are little warning lights in my experience. If a driver/rider forgets to cancel them think what else they may be distracted from :frowning:

Firstly, I sincerely wish you a full and speedy recovery.

I obviously do not know the circumstances of your crash other than your opening comment that you were taken out by another vehicle.

If liability is proved against the third party (the person that caused the crash and took you out) then the value of your kit along with all other out of pocket expenses can be claimed against the third party as part of yourt special damages.

A claim is divided into two parts.

General damages which covers your actual injuries and includes a payment for pain and suffering.

Special damages which covers your kit, out of pocket expenses, loss of earnings (including overtime) and can even cover the fact that you have lost a leisure interst in that you no longer have any desire to ride a motorcycle anymore.

Most people on here know what I do. If I can be of help to you, then feel free to drop me a PM with a contact number, and I will be more than happy to give you a call without obligation and have a chat with you and offer any assistance I can whether it be in a personal or professional capacity.

thanks T.C
