I had a little incident at the end of 2006. Coming home in on salt covered roads it had just started to lash down with rain for the first time in a few days, which brings all the sh!t to the surface. Was riding in a reserved way (or so I thought) but the back end when sideways when I was breaking down a hill into a turn. In a car if you start to slide you can check it but unfortunately with a bike you don’t get second chances it is just game over. If you are lucky you might just have a twitch to warn you, but really you have to use your judgement to avoid being in that situation in the first place. I knew I should have left the day before to avoid the filthy weather… but I ignored the signs.
bvruise on side is a pain, was working nuder my truck today, kept rolling on the bloody bruise but i am okay…more annoyed and to be honest have been questioning myself all day…
I was going too fast for the conditions on that roundabout of course but nothing indicated that there was a problem until the first slide two seconds before…
haha… was working on my bike the other day and had to peel off the stickers they give you at trackdays as that was the last time i used my bike, and the date was 29 oct!!! :w00t:done my time of riding to work in the snow and ice got myself a nice little 1 litre polo to go to work in heater and radio fantastic!!!
Sorry to hear of the off 2T, was very cold this weekend, purposely didnt wear my leathers because I didnt want to get tempted into any knee down stuff…
its seems very crazy that there is a ‘new’ type of salt and grit that makes it SLIPPERY…??? WTF??? OK so we get rid of the ice, but around freezing the roads have less grip than normal?? that just seems so devoid of any logic whatsoever…
On the M1 last night and the salt truck was on there, not much fun following that for the minute or so before I could overtake it…
thanks dude…agree…but am so damn annoyed now as it really is so slippery and it does look like its this new salt mush…not the gritter type salt that seems fine, this is a new binding agent that sticks it to the road longer and it is bloody dangerous.
I was riding an '08 Blade yesterday - was great, nothing to worry about if you’re sensible. Yes the back steped out on a bend under power, but you wouldn’t have it anyother way :DEnjoy (Oh & this demo was fully R&G’d up, forks, frame & swingarm.)
Twostrokes the only consolation is that the bike has been down now and you can can concentrate on riding it hard rather than keeping it pretty. Still sorry to hear though.
The time when I can buy a bike brand new, will be the time I buy race body work at the same time, cut out holes for lights, indicators and other gubbins to make it road legal and not give a fooook about coming off.
Put the original stuff back on when I sell it.
With all these offs I’m reading about, makes me kinda glad I’m not on the road at the moment
