LB Forums Censorship?

+1…

be carefull sneaky, they ahve been alot of motards going missing round that way, in fact i THINK mr.tan could have been teh scrote that come blatting past my work place on an LC4 few weeks back…obviously it looked and was being ridden liek it was nicked.

and im sure i have seen him and his gang around islington on pushbikes.(yes with roof lids)

i said it few weeks ago, the kids now have moved on from scooters…

Well I and really glad I could read the Post ** before it was removed** , I work in EC1 and I have seen the group hanging around the bike park and my bike, i didn’t realize thy where a gang of bike thieving scum.

Its a really shame on the public website can not help inform bikers about these type of scum! What is the world coming to! Has everybody lost there balls these days!

Really shame!!!

Tan is a scumbag who steels bikes for laughs. I’ve watched him do it to someone else’s bike, and it turned out he was the one took my bike too.

Not frightfully funny when you’re pride and joy is nicked by a bunch of hoodies.

As you have worked out, he is a juvenile, - which is why he’s so arrogant and cocksure, as he knows even a day in court won’t mean a custodial sentence. He and his mates are also tooled-up, so overall they are scumbags who deserve outing.

In my estimation, they are probably responsible for dozens of bikes going missing, and some of YOU may also be victims.

…I’m going to look into the legal side of this a bit more, but as far as I’m concerned he’s fair game. The recent case of a guy being sued for a fake facebook profile didn’t hold facebook responsible, they sued the guy who set up the fake account, so that makes ME liable, and not LB.

I’m disappointed that admin deleted the thread. I’ve seen other examples of people being named and shamed on forums for far less.

…Meanwhile I’ll try some other approaches.

the thread has been hidden not removed mate.

smiled:).

i hate hoodys

and bike thieves

I had it bookmarked. Its empty. (but maybe thats what you meant).

Unless a lawyer with experience in these matters can guarantee that no litigation can be brought to LB regarding this case, we’re not going to go on your hunches or conjecture whether it is appropriate to have information on it on this forum.

Citing other cases is all well and good, but every case is examined on it’s own merits in a court of law and the Facebook example didn’t exactly set a precedent.

Like I said before (a couple of times) the risks are too great.

This thing has been posted on several biker sites, but so far I have not seen anything that backs it up, be it local or national news.

To quote Blue from Back Street Heros on the 100% Biker forum:

The purpose of the post, I assume, was to inform the community of bikers to keep an eye out for this punk & that their bike could be at risk. As far as I can tell, the poster of this thread has not asked for this punk to be beat up or have the snot whipped out of him. Its merely been posted as information.

I am somewhat surprised at the number of people getting their panties in a twist over this.
If you have doubts of its authenticity - go and verify the court records.
I dont see what proof other than those records is required.

The LBF decision to pull the thread, while I think its a bit weak-willed, is understandable given the nature in which the legal system can be used against well-meaning people.

I can tell you first-hand that there is f-all the police or the courts can do to keep this punk and others like him (all who are usually known to the police) from stealing again.
Knowing where this sh*thead lives and operates and knowing what he looks like could be enough to prevent a number of future thefts.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

If you have misgivings, contact AngryBiker - I am sure he/she will fill you in on what you want to know.

Although it would be hard to operate clutch and brake levers if his fingers accidentally got broken somehow.

I suspect I have just seen our little scrote in action! Silver open-face, roof helment - riding a scooter like it was stolen from Islington heading towards Kings Cross. I followed him without him realising, and as he met up with his mates, they all clocked he was being followed and they scarpered. I wasnt keen to give chase where he went down a bicycle path with the scooter.

Now, to be honest, I cant say 100% it was him - I didnt get to see his face. But where they met up was a stones-throw from where he lives.

If it was him, I guess the court appearance made a big impression on him…

I shall certainly be keeping an eye out for him… and will urrr inconvenience him if I have the opportunity to do so

Out of order Mods

You won’t see proceedings in a youth court published on an of the news sites unless the reporting restrictions have been lifted by the court.

Even if you put his picture on all the bus shelters in London he would still continue to do what he is doing, one day he will take the wrong bike and it will belong to someone that is in a position to remove him from society. Until then he unfortunately has rights and if his picture, address etc is published then as he is a minor I would expect the site to be in a spot of bother. As I am sure most of you are aware the criminal of today has a great deal of backing and support from various groups and despite what they may have done they now have certain human rights and are able to challenge people for slander, deformation of character etc etc. I would also expect him to spend time looking on sites like this to get snippets of information that may be useful, so please consider what you post on here.

Please don’t mis-interpret this post I DO NOT AGREE with what he is doing at all but with the messed up society that we live in I can easily see him pressing charges against the site and winning.

It is not just the criminal who has this protection. Any minor involved in court, as a victim, witness or in any other capacity cannot be reported on in the media. It is not like this is some new modern human rights poliitcal correctness or whatever. Restrictions on the reporting of juvenile crime goes back at least as far as the 1930s and probably a lot further (although current laws don’t go back that far).

Thanks Giuliano.

Some folks are just too quick to cry censorship, and it’s far too easy for them to do so, as they’re not the ones who receive legal-action documents, not the ones who pay for sites to run, not the ones who would have to go to court and not the ones trying to balance an impossible demand between providing an open service and the ramifications that happen all the time because of the other.

Some folks should read up on the laws of our land before shouting their mouths off. They might learn something.

Well even you backed it on the other thread Jay  Now we all know he is a juvenile then it is obviously a different matter
