Why the f*ck are Ducati's so expensive?

Going back to the OP £17k is a lot for a motorbike though and more than the sum of its parts.

At the risk of inciting the wrath of Rixxy it’s not so much the cost of things that’s the problem in this country at the moment but that there is a two track economy. Most of us are affected by the repeated recessions. By ‘most’ I mean everyone on the average family income or below.

For those people it is only feasible to buy a new bike by going into debt and given the insecurity of many jobs taking out large loans is not a sensible option for many. Others are quite happy to take that risk.

The other section of society seem to have avoided the worst effects of the recessions. To generalise wildly I would hazard a guess that in this forum it is some of the public servants (excluding civil servants), IT crowd, management grade, plumbers and early retired that are in a position to buy £17k bikes. Those whose income has kept pace with or outstripped inflation are in a good position to buy stuff. Those who have had their wages suppressed for years are not. And those who get an annual bonus are just very lucky. Let’s be honest it has very little to do with an individual performance- it just depends what sort of career you are lucky enough to be in.

Fortunately for me my career is about more than the money. However, this does not stop me from being righteously and insanely jealous of the people around me who I know contribute the same or less and yet get much more…by which I mean not just money but benefits, time at home, time off to travel the world etc.

It’s as if jealousy were some sort of sin!

If there was more equality there would be no need for jealousy…in the meantime what’s worse- being a little bit jealous or being bitter and twisted?

Top marks to Toby and Choprocker for successfully trolling

Good point ^^^^^:)

Its not you mate, its the general attitude of some of the comments.

1940’s did not make 1 billion people, that india’s big problem.

It find it funny it comes across as a personal attack thats how some of us feel about this all Ducati owners are ****

I dont want to amass, in fact the opposite is me. I dont own a car and im a total bike nut!!! I love bikes and there my “thing”

Everyones different ands to generalise is not fair. Not on anyone.

To be frank i’m over it…

Nah I wasn’t generalising about Ducati owners… to be honest you know that if I ever saw that Duke of yours I’d be pleading to take it around the block for a spin (and J.C. should know how much I love hearing his bloody dry clutch cause every time I see it at BM I pull a ‘whoar’ face)… Not for the minute having a go at you or any Ducati owner, or any person who has ‘nice things’. What I care about with people is if they’re decent folk and I’ve not ever got the feeling you are not - everything else is irrelevant!

So shall we consider this whole argument malarky settled and go on to how Ducatis break every Tuesday?

As for the India thing, let’s leave that to discuss over a beer some time!

hahaha! We are fine. I dont take things personally, life is to short!!!

Your still a **** !

PROPER

I choose to spend my money on what ever the feck I like and always will

See now why didn’t i just say that?

Stay away from my clutch you , if its not that bloody TDJ having a fiddle then its Flats !

Ducati owners are W-anchors… and yes, Im jealous :D:laugh:

If a ****** is someone that likes to have nice things then yup I’m I ******

Face, bovvered :hehe:

PROPER

I was a **** before !

i remember even sneaky owned a Ducati once:blink::smiley:

if you can afford it, why not?

we have 3 at work,i get to stare and dream all day, Pani S, 848 EVO SE, and the new Red Diavel, i want the 848:D

for the moment i cant afford a Duc,so i stick with my girls bike…which i can ride fast enough for it not to matter too much:D

Pfff panigales are overrated… what get the chicks going is a GSR with gaffa tape on it that’s been scratched by going down the road. Battle scars, that’s what chicks dig :stuck_out_tongue:

…and it’s been like that for a long long time

I love my panigale s. Maybe I have been lucky, I did 15k miles on 1098 and 13k on 1198 and never had so much as a light blub break.

This thread is making me laugh and get annoyed! Laughing because of the ****s that own the ducati’s, they are all awesome and fecking funny & I would swap my R1 for PJ’s Panigale any day - and MotoPup’s RSV4!! :Whistling:
Effectively what a Ducati is - any road bike but with top spec Ohlins, Brembo Brakes, forged wheels, proper racing technology and style - you buy a standard bike from other manufacturers (non Italian) and you buy these UPGRADES it will cost you more then these ‘expensive’ exotica but they still won’t look as nice!
Someone does well for themselves - fair play! You think your hard up - there’s always someone worse off so get over yourself and realise you own a bike which is not a commodity but a luxury so your just the same as the people your trying to classify - the only difference is you can’t see it and you think because your bike is 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8k your not in that category!
As for doing one over on others to gain their wealth - your probably supporting them by purchasing your bike/car/laptop/phone/tablet/branded clothing/ blah blah blah - having morals is fine, just understand them fully before making idiots of yourselves!
Yes I’ve had a few be bevies whilst watching the footy and I’m really not bothered how you take my comments - it’s a forum for people to share their opinions… It’s just unfortunate that yours are wrong! :stuck_out_tongue:
