the reason dealers try and knock you down is because trying to sell a higher milage bike (for the money you want for it) when they have another one at proper milage/age/p-ex value means they have it in stock owing them money, when it comes to winter everyone looks for a bargain, so bikes have to be reduced - therefore they will make VERY low - or no money on your bike (a business needs to make money to stay alive - which is why so many small dealers are going bust to try and compete with the bigger dealers)
Does that help/ you want more money sell private and deal with all the time wasters dealers have to!!
What was you looking to trade in against! whats the best you’ve been offered?
mate its not the dealers fault - blame glasses guide & CAP, they give the depreciation figures!
but in all honesty (not dealer speak at the Mo) a dealer would struggle to get 3900 for that bike!
don’t forget since your bike the CBR had upside down fork model - then the new shape aswell which are struggling to get 5.5k second hand with 1-4k on the clock!
i’ll see on sat if i can better your value against one of our R6R’s for you (still on 0% finance till 4th)
2004 Yamaha XT660X with 23.500 miles on the clock ( had 500 when i got it ) oil and filter change every 3000 miles .prob keep it for another year then have a look at the KTM 690 .
