Waterproof Alpinestars that's not so waterproof

Whay style or styles do you enjoy…

I hit the “Quote” button incorrectly twice. My bad, sorry guys.

What size waterproof jacket are you looking for?

I’ve one here I’m thinking of putting on eBay. Its a XL Frank Thomas, its 100% waterproof tried and tested. It’ll keep you warm and dry whatever the UK weather throws at you.

National Treasure
Is it red with Royal Mail in the back ? Rusty99
Just red, 35 hard earned and you could go camping in it.

Haha yeah good one…

Hein Gericke textiles. Survived trip to Scotland and to Wales, both torrential. Dry as a nun's chuff when I got off. yourebarred
Just about to retire my HG Voyager after ten years of great service, no longer waterproof but I've had my money's worth.

Welcome any recommendation for a replacement

Dont believe the hype

I always found the HG stuff decent quality & good value. They’ve returned to the UK with a place in Lowestoft, so in your neck of the woods. Maybe worth popping in & having a look at what they’re currently offering?

My Held Goretex Jacket, Trousers and Gloves from Get Geared have never leaked, are used nearly every day for commuting 25 miles and are 30 months old. They have never been washed or waxed

on longer rides when I want to wear my leathers I wear an oxford rainseal suit …this but in black…(http://www.helmetcity.co.uk/oxford-rain-seal-over-suit-fluo/ ) over the top that keeps me very dry and they are quite cheap if they last you a year you’ve got your money’s worth but where it don’t breath you get sweaty, well I do anyway I’m always hot.

I have rukka for my commute and for when the temps get a bit colder but I cant wear them with the thermal liners in coz it gets too uncomfortable so although the rain isn’t getting in I still end up wet and sweaty, all through last winter I wore my rukka jacket with just a dainese top under it … (http://www.getgeared.co.uk/dainese-d-core-thermo-long-sleeve-tee-black-grey)…

ive had all sorts of cheaper waterproofs, I used to go for ones with a removable waterproof liner but they always let me down, I have heard about rukka’s letting rain in but I have also heard that they complained about it and got a new jacket from rukka …

the only thing that I have that is 100% waterproof is my scuba drysuit, dunno why someone cant come up with a bike jacket that’s made the same way

Spray em with WD40…

Try the contract us bit on the Alpinestars website. I had a warranty issue with a pair of gloves last year and they got in touch very quickly.

Good point Stuart. I've just dropped them an email to see what can be done
