Hey Dazza mate! I think you let him off lightly;) should have dragged him out the motor and threw under the nearest stone you could find…Tosser!
when i was riding home from work last week (it was pissing with rain) this young cager overtook me round the outside of a small roundabout cutting me up and almost had me off, needless to say i overtook HER at the first point of safety, slowed her down while making gestures to the rain the road and her lack of brains. it did slow her down…maybe she’ll think next time…but more than likely NOT.
My mrs was heading along the north circ from the Waterworks roundabout a couple of weeks back, then heard a bit of beeping behind her - she looked in the mirror to see a bike on a go slow, making all kinds of hand gestures to the car behind it She didn’t know what was going on, but I had a little chuckle when she explained it to me !
1: You lose them and get on with riding, calm and concentrated <shrug>.
2: You lose it and take revenge - your adrenalin is up, you cannot think of much else for several minutes - you may well die from lack of concentration. Those who loved you will not be happy. You have become another reason to ban motorbikes. You are part of the problem, as bad if not worse than the original perp.
No real point in taking mirrors off. Just get the Reg and report it. As Pork says, it will get flagged. I’ve met up with some numpties on the road (I ride a lovely Trumpet too) and just get on with my ride. I’ve pulled over to let twats get past and then I’ve got them where I can see them. 99% of the time you get to filter past safely at a later stage. There is really no point stooping to their level.
Jim, wise words indeed no doubt and we will ALL take notice of it
I must say that my understanding reading the initial post of this thread was not to condone or get any approval…i am sure of that, because i know exactly what wimbledaz went through, i’ve had first hand experience of t055ers like the ones he bumped into and i am sure the majority of us know exactly what wimbledaz went through, right? well i do hope so, if you don’t then don’t stick a comment on this thread…
so let’s end this rubbish of simplistic comments ‘it was not wise…’ blah blah blah
i don’t think wimbledaz is a vandal, under pressure he probably just did not think straight and reacted the way he reacted, self preservation is common to every individual, it is subjective and was his perception at the point in time that made him react the way he did…fair enough
we all learn a lesson and will probably think twice before stretching out our legs towards the cages next time, i hope i will, the temptation is very often there…then i breath in and calm down…
yes that reaction could have had disastrous consequences and I personally agree with this line of thought, but i get really cheesed off when i read (no reference to you Jim here, as i think it’s the best comment i have read so far) riders just commenting for the sake of commenting ‘it was ott’, ‘it wasn’t the wisest thing in the world’, ‘criminal damages’ claims…doh!!!
with hindsight everyone seems to be so cool…good for you!
couple up the statement from the lunatic driver and i can assure you CPS will entertain a criminal damage.
as for plod not doing anything, wind your necks in…i’ve prosecuted 4 bikers for that in the past (albeit reluctantly) but the facts were there, it was all down to one word against the other yet one motorist had damage and one didn’t, it ain’t rocket science to work out is it?
and if your willing to play Gladiators with a ton and a half of steel merely for a ‘trophy’ and revencge (and a later subsequent court date) then your a prat.
and the flip side of my coin is succesful sec59’s against motorists who felt the need to terrorise a motorcyclist just because they lost thier rag…
motorists that will lose thier car if they do it again.
So, carry on smacking door mirrors, how wonderful…as i said, as soon as you do that your in the same league as them and you’ve successfully lowered your standards to thiers.
it probably means CPS had some spare time in their hands…otherwise let me assure you they will NFA
if you get a good defence lawyer … the “lunatic” driver’s word against mine…
yeh fare enough, for criminal damage but, if you get a numbty trying to have you off and you take there number and report them you’ll get no where, well i don’t think you would. As I said before, I’ve been taken off badly. First the nutter tried to hit the bike infront of me but missed and then went for me. must of been on drugs or something. He rammed me into a skip lorry for no reason what so ever, went under the lorry and was about 6" away from going under the wheel when the lorry stopped. The whole front end of my bike was crushed but the police just didn’t want to know about it. I even told them the yard I thought the van came from and if there check now there probably find blue paint all the way down the side of it, but did they check. No. Admitedly I didn’t get his number and the lorry driver said he didn’t either as the van went to quick through the traffic and round the rounderbout. They didn’t even speak to the lorry driver my only witness. It was at the barking flyover on the a13 and there’s loads of cameras and apparently not one see anything, strange that. That bloke tried to kill me and they done nothing. Just gave me a form with about 4 lines worth of space to write down what happened. I kept trying to tell the officer on the desk what happened but he was saying "just put in the form"And that program the other night, how much evidence do they want, they had it on film for god sake and still did nothing??? I don’t get it Again I’d like to say I’m not telling people to attack other people cars, I’m just saying my view on reporting things like this:D
I wish I had now. I just couldn’t undertand it at the time, how they wouldn’t do anything. they only had to see the state of my bike and the scratches down the road to see how bad it was, or even speak to the lorry driver. I Got dragged for about 50 yards. I mean how bad does it have to be. That incident sort of knocked my faith in the police a bit, well there was another time aswell when my mum was hit by a kid in car, ruined her life completly but, his Dad was A high ranking officer. I won’t go into detail but I really don’t have much faith/trust in them anymore, well romford and dagenham police
our CPS will run with most things in fairness to them and with the new system you get more time to sit down and put your case over…maybe they are a little overwhelmed with work in the smoke perhaps?
ok lads and lasses. lets try and end this on a happy note. im still alive! yes i lost my rag but it was a reaction rather than me being an anti car/mirror thug. im 37 and was a first and hopefully last. as a reletavley new member to this group my post certainly made for good reading ,with a few members getting very very political and judgemental. please bear this in mind peeps i honestley beleive that NO-ONE can honestley say what they WOULD do in this sort of situation unless personally expeirienced, like the select few. situations cause reactions and reactions are different all the time but you CANNOT plan reactions. like i say im alive. im certainly no thug as seems to be somes veiw. and hopefully i will learn and IF a next time MAYBE if i have the time to think i`ll deal with it differently. . … i have neither horns or a halo. …but i live to ride another day. thanks for all the imput folks …if a little political at times…until my next post!!!
+10 - always seems to be the giving and receiving of road rage on here. I ride around London and have not had any problems - in over 7 years now!!Like the old cap badge says ‘Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense’. Loosely translated 'evil to he who evil thinks’Our actions on the roads - and in life - dictate our passage through it. Show aggression and get aggression back. That’s my take on it…
