Theres a War going on between Me and the local Fox Community and its come to a Stalemate !!
They are ripping the place to peices here by tearing through Garden Fencing and Netting to get to Small Wild Animals plus Rabbits and other Pets that are kept by neighbours even though the Pets are kept inside !!. They are Screaming the place down trying to get in to Rubbish Bins and setting off Car Alarms left right and centre chasing Birds and whatever !!
Ive put Traps out and been warned off as its inhumane !!
Ive put poisons out and been warned again !!
Ive shot one and nearly been nicked !!
Pest Control is out becouse they want a fortune to attend a Private Residence and technically the Land that the Foxes frequent is owned by the Council and they wont pay as they say its not cost effective !!
RSPCA say there is nothing they can do as they are a Rescue Service !!
So what now ??
4.30am and they are out there fighting each other, howling like Murdoch and Im ready to explode !!
I know what you mean mate, we get them where i live and it`s a b@stard. The only thing i would do if i was allowed is a rifle with a silencer on it, you can shot them and nobody will hear it.
Run the little s**ts over, so “your on your way home” they run out and the spiked ball bar attched to the front of the car just so happened to hit the fox…
Seriously dont’ know how you could shoot a fox in a limb so it doesn’t die on your doorstep but suffers slowly
Used to have this problem when I lived with my wife, she was a keen gardener and hated them because they dug patches in her lawn and flower beds and dug under the fences and made a racket. But I always liked them (Noise and all)
Not sure of the legality of shooting them but it’s not something i’d countenence anyway.
All you can do is discourage them.
Put concrete sections at the bottom of your fence panels. Make sure you have good securely closeable rubbish bins. Never put bin bags out until the morning of collection. Try ultrasonic deterents in your garden. Keep rabbits in secure pens, indoors ideally. get double glazing…
If they come into your garden whilst you’re awake then get out there and disturb them. Chase them away, don’t let them feel comfortable and secure in your garden.
they are classed as vermin, you have all the rights to shoot them with out being nicked, its called pest control,as long as the intention is to control then you wont be arrested. i shoot with a miroku mk 75 12 bore with a medium choke. il bring over my .22 rimfire if ya like.
I am so disgusted with some of the comments on this post.
And just so btw - foxes are not classed as vermin - this is the reason the local council will not go out and kill them off by
poisonning them
shooting them in the leg so they can die slowly as was suggested here
using them for target practice with bows, arrows and the front of your car.
Why dont you spend your time more usefully and go and work with some of these animals that people have tried to get rid of. Go and wash down an animal that has been kicked, beaten, shot, had fireworks shoved up its a.rse or been used in a dog fight and then see if you ever again have the stomach to make some of the comments that has been made.
this is not so much about the foxes - we have them where i stay but we take precautions against them much similar to what was advised here.
its the mindless cruelty which people seem to think is ok that gets me. I dont think its appropriate but if you want i can post up pics of where people thought that this sort of behaviour was ok!
Seem to have a rather uncaring set of people on here - what with the inocent killing of other animals, too much crap still getting in the atmosphere, loss of the greenbelt etc - man is tampering with nature and has no clue!
Foxes were here before you lot and will only return; suggest you use other means - the shooting and traps etc will not help either!
Call in the specialsts to have them professionally removed…or move elsewhere its part of urban life!!
no but why dont you rather go out there shoot it in the leg so your kids can listen to it screaming in agony because they do scream - and its like something you have never heard before - believe me, its not pleasant!
My point stands - some of the comments made on this thread on how to deal with the animals and made by yourself as well is immoral, wrong and cruel.
Why not take precautions or other actions against them that would cause them not to be harmed. But maybe its funnier to see an animal in pain.
poison, traps or snares, shooting in leg, ramming with cars, Fook me - i am sorry but that is just cruel.
Legally:
The Wild Mammal (Protection) Act 1996 protects most mammals from a variety of cruel acts which are intended to cause unnecessary suffering. When a fox has been captured the Protection of Animals Act 1911 can also be used to prosecute those people who ill treat the fox.
Poison: There is no poison that can be legally used on foxes. Use of a poison to kill foxes would lead to either a large fine or imprisonment.
Gassing: Again the use of any gas to kill foxes is illegal.
Spring Traps: Can not be used against foxes and traps with teeth have been illegal in this country since 1954 for all animals.
Free Running Snare: May be legally used to catch foxes but is subject to many restrictions. In urban areas its doubtful that these restrictions can be met.
Self tightening Snare: Is illegal
Oh and here is something you should all find funny - cos i dont
