Well, there’s some mitigation. The A21 is after all a horribly frustrating road to drive on, home to numpties doing 38 mph and so on. As for the undertakes and “forcing” vehicles into the inside lane, I have a lot of sympathy - poor lane discipline by the cagers there as usual, the A21 is particularly bad for it. As for the rest, yep, bang to rights.
The police rider was really impressive - staying that cool and giving a running commentary at that speed shows a really high level of skill. Was the police rider on an unmarked bike? - perhaps the guy on the gixxer saw him in his mirrors and thought it was some other bloke up for a race and his pride kicked in and he went for it - most 22 year olds react like that e.g. notice the police bike had to flash one car out of the way - I’m sure it would have shifted if he’d been on a white pan with blue lights.
Some of the bikers riding was acceptable from ‘our’ point of view (people who like to razz it when the opportunity presents itself) - other bits were totally lunatic and he was going to put himself and/or someone else on a mortuary slab.
I think it’s ok to ride like a demon if you know when and where to do it - but if you start mixing seriously high speeds with the general public on congested roads then your going to get into serious bother and bring biking into disrepute and give the new labour/euro parliament nanny state/anti-fun brigade pressure groups all the excuses they need to shut us down (like limiting bhp etc).
Me too, to an extent - i think the GSXR rider was a bit crap to be honest - and I’d like to think that I would notice the way that the rider behind was positioning - that would have been a big give away that he was old bill. Might be best to cool it for a few miles if someone joins in uninvited, to see what they do…
The “filth” was doing what they should be doing. Yeah, we’ve all done some of what this bloke was doing but he was riding like an absolute idiot on some of it - some of those 40’s and 30’s on the 21 (I know it well) are residential area’s where he was doing in excess of a ton - he ain’t gonna stop if some kid runs out in front of him.
he got caught…unlucky…personally he did ride liek a tit in places i wouldnt… but i think my old bill sensors would have kicked in long before i had done anything silly:D
Should he have just let the guy get away? If it was just a matter of breaking a few traffic laws to ensure escape from the law there might be a few more bank robberies etc:)
The guy was a dick in places but id have thought the copper was up for a race myself, although just like a few others have said i normaly let them pass or atleast rite upto me to see if they wana go for it. And i wouldnt be able to touch a sportsbike on those roads, they where way too straight
