ive just been looking at some racetech tyre warmers.
has anyone ever used them if so what are they like, any fault’s, things that people may notice about them.
i wanna book a track day but cant see the point until i get some warmers.
so i need to get some for the LB track day then i will book up!!!
They say that but I don’t see it as wasted laps, you need a lap anyway to get your brain, oil, brakes up to temperature and a couple of laps to build speed, you’re not really going to go balls out first or second lap anyway unless you’re some kind of expert (appologies if you are, hard to tell on LB ) so tyre warmers or not, you still need at least 2 laps if not 3 to pick it up. My fastest laps are usually laps 4 or 5 even when I had tyre warmers at Cadwell.
sorry but it is wasted laps, whether you are in novices or fast, and if you are going to be spending time on track then get yourself some decent warmers.
tyres don’t like loads of heat cycles especially getting road biased rubber up to such high temperatures.
best value for money are diamond security warmers and you’ll find them on ebay. great after sales care etc. For the dogs danglies HWW are awesome but cost a pretty penny. I find the DS ones are good enough for little ol me.
Agree with you there mate, maybe just jealous cos I can’t afford them (to busy paying for track days!!) - but was suggesting to the OP that not doing a trackday just because you dont have tyre warmers is a waste…
Hehe although the grip on track is huuuge compared to the road…Also you might be able to hire tyre warmers/paddock stands at the LB track day, have a word with MSV and get it booked up!!
Motor Sport Vision, jonathan palmer, they own brands hatch, cadwell, oulton…
You’ll be absolutely fine on track without warmers mate, dont let that put you off going! you dont need them, your tyes will ride there ride round all day and ride home no bother…
haven’t used the racetec ones - how much are they/do you have a link?
have a look at diamond racing ones. very good value for money at about 160. HW are a bit more pricey but pretty popular for trackdays also (I’ve got a set of these and work well). warmers are great - its one less thing to worry about when you head out. you also dont have to ride a few laps with soggy tyres
having said that, you definitely can ride without warmers. the problem is that whilst we’re all talking about the 3 laps warm up, too many people will start to get carried away and start pushing too soon - “oh sod it, 2 laps will be fine” or “there goes my mate, i’ll chase him”… and end up on their ass. way too many people crash on trackdays on cold tyres.
also bear in mind a tyres heat will be local to its use - if its lots of right handers, be a bit careful on the left (another reason why the 3 laps is important)
I got mine from M and P, £99 with a pair of paddock stands thrown in. Probably cheapo make but they work well enough. Don’t forget you’ll need a generator too for places like Cadwell which don’t have garages and power.
once you do u first trackday youl wana do more and the more you do the less time youll be wanting to wait for your tyres warm up.
my tyre warmers give me the confidence to go faster earlier. i got mine off of evilbay too remember to always turn them off before you take them off and also take them off b4 you start ur bike in gear (i had a very bad day!!!)
