tyre warmers

thats the next question i need to know

what group do i book into!

novice or inters!!!

I use MOTO GP non digital ones, got them for about £100 last year.

They make a difference for sure, you do notice it, and stopping the tyres heat cycling all day seems to get more life out of each set.

Far too much focus is put on which group you go in. dont worry about it, they can move you about if you feel you’re not happy…

You’ve done track day before?

no never done one but have been thinking about it since my big off

to many idiots on the road and to much stuff to hit and if i hit something its gonna hurt!!!

Trackdays are like that perfect bit of road that you find once in a blue moon and wish would never end…

Get ya self in the novice group mate, put ya yellow jacket on have a wander round see what ya think… you’ll have a ball…

:hehe:

there a lot of cheaper branded ones around and some I’m sure some work well. prob is aside from the quality that sometimes suffers when you get the cheapo ones (from how well they’re made, to the termostatic controls) there is also the product back up - diamond and HWW are very good for repairing any failed units and turn 'em around quickly for you. you’re paying a bit more to start with but may pay off in the long run (esp as trackdays are pretty addictive!)

oh, and definitely do not buy slicks. unless you’re at the cutting edge of the fast group and can push the tyres hard, the tyres will give you way less grip as they’re not going to stay hot enough (and you can only really use 'em if its bone dry etc).

for your first novice day any road/race rubber will be more than good enough for what you need (and will be road legal should you need to ride there and back). they also give you more of a range of temperature and weather that you can ride in.

just checking but you do know you have to have the bike on paddock stands to use warmers right?

have a look at the trackday section as theres some good info on there and feel free to chat to any of us on the LB day too.

I didn’t use warmers on my first trackday and I certainly didn’t consider it wasted laps. It’s just one more thing to faff with. I might change my mind later but I was more worried about the other bits of my bike screaming for relief by the end of the day and all the other idiots doing something stupid because they were tired and didn’t know when to quit. The guy who turned up at 4pm knew what he was doing.

You don’t NEED tyre warmers, especially if you are on sporty road rubber like diablo corsa or 2ct but they are lovely.

HWW all the way for me. I used them when superM racing cos they are tough AND if you have a problem HWW have a great repair service that is inexspensive AND offers a fast turn around.
