I think they claim the warranty as being void if it’s suffered water damage - so you may be able to send it them under the warranty but if they find evidence of water damaging it then they’ll probably charge you for repairing it - and it’s usually not cheap :ermm:
My phone was on the blink a few years ago and had to send it to be repaired - that was pretty much what they told me - if it’s water damage you pay for it.
I think it might be about £50 to be honest - what type of screen is it out of interest? Is it the glass type one or the one which you press with the stylus thing? Most phones survive a bit of water but I can see touch screens suffering a little more
Not sure where - might be an idea to find teh warranty number and just call them. Tell them it got wet and see what they suggest to do. They’ll probably be able to give a more accurate quote for the cost aswell
if its looking desperate and you have no cover for it, a last ditch effort might be to take the thing apart so you can see its circuit board etc and let it all dry out that way…leave it a few days and see if it helps
a mate of mine did that once when he managed to leave an Orange SPV in his jeans which were then washed + tumble dried! not sure if his was turned on at the time though
Take it all apart completely, take as much of it out as you can and leave it in the airing cupboard for 3 or 4 days, give it chance to fully dry out and see what happens. Overnight isn’t really long enough.
What has happened i think is the water has got between the glass plates that act as the touch screen if you take it a part and seperate the screens wipe them it will work.
risky but it will work again
besides just get an upgrade if they wont give it to you for free tell them you are going to another provider and they will brake your arm oof to give you a new one I did it recently and got a free lg viewty on a low tarrif
They just phoned me out of the blue. It was a genuine Orange employee as I’m always dubious about this kind of offer and I called them back via Orange switchboard:)
I’ve now got a sexy new Nokia and my old one is only 10 months old:cool:
