Sports bikes for 6 foot +er's

Im looking to upgrade from my current sit up and beg CBF to something a whole lot sportier, i’ve sat on just about everything, but because the riding position is so different, im not really able to judge the long term comfort…

I’ve pretty much ruled out the 600’s as they are so small for me at 6’5’’, so have pretty much shortlisted the fireblade and zx10, and am looking for suggestions!

So, calling all tall sports riders of LB to recommend their bikes!

Broady, Chenster and I are all over 6ft and own ZX10s with no known issues. PJ is over 6ft and rides the new BMW. Sneaky is over 6ft and rides an R1, although I think he prefers his Motard  FirebladePaul used to have a blade (obviously lol) and he is over 6ft. I have another friend that is 6ft5 and rides a Mille. If you fancy something a little more muscle bikey, Hannibal is over 6ft and rides a BKing. KTMartin, well, self explanatory. Alex is over 6ft and rides a Tuono.

Lots of options  Plus there is one person on this site that does customisation, so he might be able to help with a mod? He rides a busa and his name is Terry (El Diablo De Viese)…Edit: that ok, Moody Tall Dude? :hehe:

I’m 6’2" and my Firestorm is great. She’s 13 years old and isn’t up there performance wise with the newer Blades and ZX’s, but she’s capable of all types of riding. She’s been round Brands Hatch a few times and I commute into the city on her every day.

There’s my recommendation for a decent every day bike (in my opinion!!) that you can pick up for around £2k.

Good luck with finding something suitable. There’s probably more choice than you’d imagine. I read a review of a 6’4" (I think!) rider testing the road version of the Aprillia World Superbike which is tiny. He loved it and was surprised when he fitted comfortably on it!!!

I’m 7’10 and ride a monkey bike with no problems.:w00t::smiley:

Daytona 955i. I’m a long streak of **** and it fits me well.Very comfortable for long distance as well.

i like the idea of speed triple, tuono, cb1000r which are all more suited too the taller rider, but really want something sporty, its going to be a heart over head this time, my last couple of bikes have been far too practical! :stuck_out_tongue:

so far it has to be the fireblade, im young enough not to ache for a week after riding it, and i reckon with rear sets to lower the pegs slightly, it will be fine.

due to my age, even my friendly local dealer wont give me a test ride so i really am going on recommendations and runs up and down the car park.

just done some reading and apparently the 08 onwards blades drink a litre of oil every 600 miles!!!

I ride an ‘06 Blade and I’m 6’2", don’t really find it a problem at all, use it for commuting and any awkwardness is down to the bike not being suitable for that (steering lock etc) more than any problems i have with my height etc, not sure if the ergonomics of the newer Blades are vastly different to mine tho’

750 Gixxer here , tall fat lad on a bike !

I’m 6’6" and ride a Speed Triple with no issues.
Used to Have a Thundercat and that was fine size wise too.

Bev.

Let me re-arrange that for you:

I’m a monkey bike, and get ridden by 7 men who are 10" :hehe:

Depends on your budget, I ride a GSXR750K1 and that fits very nicely, I’m 6ft2

the 600’s especially the modern ones I do find a bit small.

Aw bout’ me? :crying:

will be interested to see if there are any views from tall guys on the latest crop of sports 600’s.

a 750 would be ideal, but wouldn’t touch a suzuki with a barge pole

sports noob question… if i was to put on rear sets (ie the non pivoting type) say 20mm lower than standard, would i ever grind them out riding fairly swifly on the road?

My mate Pee, is 6ft3 and rides the new gixxer 750, he had the 600 before that, but found it a little cramp.

Personally I love my Busa, but also had séx with a ZX12 - very close second to the busa, did enjoy a little fling with a k3 GSXR thou.

But Like Gabs says the ZX10 is a pretty impressive tool, but you got to be fairly flexible to ride it.

  • 2 (6’ 4" and long distances 2 up)

I included you - in the bold bit! To be honest, it’s been so long I have absolutely no clue WHAT you’re riding at the moment and whatever you are riding is not likely to be widely available!!

Oh, so I’m ’ a few people ’ now am I? :stuck_out_tongue:

Still the Busa tho’, but I did have my eye on a dirty crash repairable Honda sp1 slut.

Fine. I’ll change the post.

Jeez! Moody Tall Dudes!!

lol, wouldn’t be mean if I weren’t moody
