Sports bikes for 6 foot +er's

:pinch: Shocking, pornographic even!

im 1.90m (6ft something i think) and im fine on the Hornet… not your typical sports 600 (but close enough).

dont find height a problem at all (weight is more of an issue :ermm: )

i have had 2 blades and im 6 4ins and im pretty comfy, a set of rearsets make a big difference!!! You can set the lower and further back and than 2 mins helps alot!

Why not?

Possibly, but depends a lot on the bike, suspension setup, tyre profile and riding style…

they dont sell rearsets that lower the footpeg position. the lowest position on an adjustable is higher than stock

i’m 6’3" and have an 06 r1. have had an 04 r6 and a 748 (which was admitedly a bit on the small side if you’re tall, but then is a bit on the small side for anyone who isn’t a stumpy italian).

any of the sports bikes will suit you fine. just bear in mind a litre sports bike is not like a 600 sports bike, they are a LOT more powerful, particularly in terms of torque.

Can I interest you in a Ducati 749?

Elad… No real reason, just a personal prejudice much like some have with BMW, may swing by the local dealer and have a look, i know nothing about them as i’ve never had any interest, but they just dont do it for me like other makes do.

as for the rear sets, i think i’d do a few thousand miles with the stock pegs to see if i still feel the need to alter the position etc

rixxy… same height and i’m looking at the same bike so i can relate to that, did you find any difference between the older pre 08 and the new 08 onwards in terms of one being roomier than the other?

im well aware that a modern litre bike is an accident waiting to happen if you dont respect it etc and i wouldn’t be looking at getting one if i didn’t trust myself not to be a hooligan on it

wouldn’t say that about the litre bike particularly to be honest, you can be a tool on any bike with a decent engine in. its more a question of the style of riding them. the sports 600s you keep them singing, the litre you have grunt in any gear, any time. if you’ve not had a sports bike before you’re more likely to get more out of the 600 as you actually have to work it (at least a bit). the litre bike you can ride across london without leaving 1st gear comfortably.

they’re both fun, just different fun

A guy I know is same height and build as me, 6.2ft and fairly large, he rides an R1 with no probs at all. I asked him about it and he says that a lot of people ask him about his height and coping with that bike. He says it’s absolutely not a problem at all and feels very comfortable.
