Blimey, has it really gone up by £20 in two years? Still worth doing, but that’s a bit of a hike. If anyone who hasn’t done it is thinking they might do it, best get it done now as at this rate it will cost £70 by 2012.
Worth mentioning that if you do Bikesafe one year then tell your insurers you’ve done it when renewal time comes around, they may knock the cost off the next premium (mine did).
The IAM and/or RoSPA advanced motorcycle groups are well worth joining for their road-craft knowledge. I think an IAM “Skills for Life” package (basically, the first years membership) is about £165. RoSPA is a lot cheaper to join, at about £50. Also there are some independent advanced groups around; they are also very good value for money, at about £50, and they can put you through both advanced tests when you are ready. (I think they also have a special deal for under 21s)see: http://www.eamg.org.uk/
