Opinions: the most stylish denim motorcycle jeans?

A side line from the Hood People : http://www.kyrano-uk.com/html/k8_legs.html

What is it with you guys and trying to re-invent the wheel. There is a perfectly serviceable option which will let other bikers know that this is someone unique.

Watch other road users get out of your way as your scream past wearing these puppies on your Gixer

Just noticed the subtitle “The proper kevlar stuff that looks like denim”.

Most of these jeans/combats are not made of kevlar, they are just lined with it, and not usually completely lined either, just in “important” areas.

How much you spend can influence how much kevlar you get. (For instance cheapo combats in J&S have weeny little bits of Kevlar strip in the legs compared to some others)

Best to look inside before you buy;)

Good point - could end up with an entirely false sense of security with some of these jeans.

Which bike jeans make girls bums look the best? lol
Not impressed with my draggin Minx jeans but I wouldn’t normally wear thick material stretch jeans. They are also very hot in the summer and I’ve started wearing normal jeans again which is stupid I know.

The alpinestar ones look good. Do they make them for women too and if so who stocks them in London?

I have tried men’s bike jeans but they don’t fit well on the legs.

I know I keep going on about the Hoods (honestly I don’t work for them) but they score on Kevlar as they do have lots of it, the ones I’m wearing right now (K7) are fully lined down to only 4 inches from hem (of course this will depend how short or long they cut them for you) and they don’t cost the earth either. Even the Concept 6s that have patches have kevlar on the bum right down to the knee at the back and from halfway up the thigh down to about halfway down the shin on the front, so very generous.

Not see that before - looks similar to the K-liners but probably better… it’s a good idea I think!

Exstensive kevlar definitely a must have.

Right then , 1st impressions are good for the Draggins , only hassle so far has been the knee armour slit and the eventual position , but aside from that they are a nice fit.

I now know what they mean by seamless , if you look at the Hood’s ( On the right in these pictures ) you can see where the Kevlar Beer Towel type insertions are attached.

Kevlar coverage is the same for both , except the draggins have a kind of vented mesh over the top so it itsnt in direct contact with your skin. Nice touch and makes it more comfortable.

Have stuck em next to a pair of normal jeans for a comparrison also :

Anything else just holla !

bit confused about the pictures as when I look on the Hood website they dont show any seams but the pictures above show them.
I was all set on the Hood jeans know I’m not sure

You do feel them when worn all day sat behind a desk.

The quality of the denim is also better on the Draggins.

Draggins look really good. Thanks for the pics.

Hi Ninja,
Being thin I don’t always get a good fit on jeans but the Draggin Jeans are good quality weave and really comfortable on the bike more so than normal jeans. I don’t bother with the foam insertable knee pads as they’re crap. I paid extra and bought the Dainese shin-knee protectors and webbed protective underwear ( for want of a better name ).
I own two pairs of the camo Draggin Jeans and I rate them.

Regards,

BM

Cheeers for that BM - yeah, the draggins seem to be just the job.

Do Hood sell in shops or just on-line? Check out the options in “real” shops before buying - try them all on as well.

I think the hood Concept 6’s like in the pic above are the only ones which have the seams as they’re also the only ones that have patches of kevlar rather than being fully lined. My Hood K7’s have no seams other than the usual side and pocket ones and I think that goes for the other styles too.

The U.S. brand ‘SARTSO’ has just arrived on the UK market - they look good and seem to have the full Kevlar treatment - even better they seem to be pitched around the 120/30 quid mark.Anyone has/heard of these?

The test below doesn’t inspire terrific confidence - e.g. the speed the guy is getting dragged at look very low - even the ride back from the shops has the odd 60 - 70 mph bit in it - I wonder if the kevlar would work at that speed?

I like my Red Routes - Infinity & HG sell them. Lots of kevlar and a good fit on the legs, although a bit baggy on the waist and I’m finding them more comfortable than Draggins. Q

Hi Q - been getting out on the Kwak much recently?

I’ve had draggins and am currently on Red Routes for daily commute. Both good jeans. Finally got proper armour in the Red Routes which make my knees look huge when off the bike but the jeans themselves are really good.

I wouldn’t wear them on the motorway but they’re great around town. Only thing is it gets a little warm if you have to walk round in them at all!
