Omaha Beech Normandy 23rd/24th October

After the great day trip to Iepers i have decided that a weekend away to visit Omaha Beech in Normandy is next on the cards.

Initial thoughts are to travel down on Saturday 23rd October and visit the Beech and American cemetary. This is the Beech from the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan, incase you wasn’t aware:w00t: Then head off to Honfleur and check into a hotel for the night. Take in the surroundings and have a nice meal, then in the morning head back to England and enjoy some lovely French roads and scenery.

I understand it is only just over a month away but an idea of numbers interested would be nice to see if its viable.

Tunnel costs about £31 return

Fuel would be about £60 (500 miles return from Calais)

Hotel, depending on numbers and people sharing, about £30 each for the night

Plus food and drink

Are those dates fixed mate ?

Not really, just thought i would start it off with something.

Ok mate , Im away so will keep my eye on this one in case the date changes.

Let me think…

Ok I’m in.

If its not that weekend then it might be 6th 7th November:)

Will keep my eye on this in case the 2nd date is prefereble to everyone else.

Definately interested!Went there for a week in Aug, some wicked roads around there! My folks still live near Dover so easy for me. PS wont it be a bit chilly?

Have stayed there loads of times over the years. It’s just a short walk up from the centre ville and the food is fabulous.

Thanks mate:)

I was going to get some heated gloves anyway

Does anyone have any recommendations on the inner ones? I like my existing gloves so these could go inside them. I have seen some that cover all the hand, back / thumb and fingers but have lost the link…duh!
