Yes I’m very interested in this one but I’ll have to see how funds are nearer the date, so I’m a big provisional at the moment.
We must all watch saving private ryan the night before :w00t:

THANKS MATE.
Ok cool guys, thanks.
Let me look into this further and see about hotels. Maybe a Formula1 just to compare the costs.
It will be cold for sure but like sunday so long as it stays dry the roads should be good fun.
I will keep you all posted.
Really enjoyed Ieper trip so am up for this as well!
interested! tho haven’t done a winter here yet, so if i have the nerves, then i’m in.
cold but dry roads as PJ said, no problems.
Ok, I’m interested
Put me down for it PJ
I would seriuosly love to do this one, but i know October is going to be very busy for me. Hopefully closer to the day will give me more of an idea if i can make it.
you mean wait to see if it is raining:w00t: ya big wus:P
PJ, that weekend is schools half term so channel crossings will be very busy.
Oh right, ok let me look into this a bit further and see if i can finalise something up over the weekend.
It’s Thundersport at Donny that weekend, so I will be required to be pit boarding…
Pj,look at the etap hotel in honfleur, its only a 5 min walk to the harbour.
p.s.(& its fairly cheap & very clean)

After the great day trip to Iepers i have decided that a weekend away to visit Omaha Beech in Normandy is next on the cards.
Initial thoughts are to travel down on Saturday 23rd October and visit the Beech and American cemetary. This is the Beech from the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan, incase you wasn’t aware:w00t: Then head off to Honfleur and check into a hotel for the night. Take in the surroundings and have a nice meal, then in the morning head back to England and enjoy some lovely French roads and scenery.
I understand it is only just over a month away but an idea of numbers interested would be nice to see if its viable.
Tunnel costs about £31 return
Fuel would be about £60 (500 miles return from Calais)
Hotel, depending on numbers and people sharing, about £30 each for the night
Plus food and drink
I’ve been to Omaha Beach at the beginning of September. Nice ride and Omaha Beach itself is beautiful and full of history.
Good luck!
Is there a campsite nearby?

Is there a campsite nearby?
I saw one campsite there next to the beach but it was already closed. I’ve spent two nights in a B&B for 60,-EUR; I was on my own in a room with two beds, so it might be cheaper per head if you’ll be in a group. It’s a lovely retired couple’s house and, what you may appreciate there, the guy speaks fluent English and he knows a lot about the place. They have three rooms there in the house all together for about 8-10 people.
You can see a sign “B&B” there when driving alongside the beach - easy to find. It’s about 100 meters from the beach. There are two or three hotels nearby too…

head to Pegasus bridge if you get time thats amazing well worth the detour :was there last month
Tunnel £31
Etap Hotel in Honfleur £40 per room
500 miles of fuel £60
add to this food and drink i guess your looking at about £200 total for the weekend. How does that sound?
