MAYDAY RUN UPDATE

Just to let you guys know that Smiled has been told that he’s gotta work tomorrow and is proper gutted. They knew that he wanted to have Mayday off but they are so short staffed and he’s been told that he has to work.

He’s asked me to post this on behalf of him and he’ll drop a line later tonight.

I will be at Locksbottom with Flyby and Baby Polar Bear around 7.30am in order to grab a brew and a bacon roll. We will be heading off at 8am sharp. We’re going this early as it will take around 1½ hrs to get down to Hastings and we’d like to get parked in the main car park. Of course you can go whatever time you would like.

The location of Locksbottom is here:

I will be on my 125 and being that I am on a learner plate we are going to go the non-motorway route. This route is going on the A21 south heading to Hewitts Roundabout taking the 4th exit on the A224. This route is the Orpington Bypass going through Badgers Mount. It runs over the top of the M25 coming out in Dunton Green. We will pass Dunton Green and head towards the small village called Riverhead. This is still on the A224. There after it’s a case of taking 2 rights which is sign posted Sevenoaks A21. Then we stay on the A21 until we reach Hastings.

The motorway route:

Basically its easy peasy. Take the directions from Locksbottom and head south with the signs posted to the M25 and stay on the M25, take the A21 exit which is sign posted Hastings. All you do is carry on heading south.

Getting into Hastings:

The easiest way is when you get into Hastings, you will pass a sainsburys on your right. Stay on this road. You will go over a small roundabout and thereafter you will reach another one. Take the first exit which is called St. Helens Road. Head south, you will have Alexandra Park to your right and houses to your left. Be careful as there is a speed camera here. After 3 mins you will reach a roundabout with a Railway bridge in front of you. Stay on this road, go under the bridge where you will be on Queens road. You will have a Morrisons to your right and carry on this road. You will also pass the Priory Shopping Centre which is also on your right. The road will curve round to the left by the Cinema. At the end of this road are traffic lights with the Carlisle Pub your right. Take the left turning by the pub. After you take this left you will see the main car park to your right. Go over the large roundabout and take the first right into the car park.

The Met office has said this about the weather for tomorrow:

Monday:
Large amounts of cloud with outbreaks of rain. The rain becoming showery in the afternoon with some brighter intervals. Maximum temperature 18 °C

I hope this helps.

I’m getting up at what time?

Guys Sincere is right if you want to get park in the main car park in Hastings then leave early. For those whom haven’t been before it is a great day, people lining the route waving at you, a high police presence. Also you do get a lot of bikes and some do like to think they are Rossi but for the most part it is a sensible steady ride just use your mirrors to see what is coming up behind you. We, as in Sincere, Flyby and myself will be riding at a sensible steady pace if there you would like to ride with us then you are more that welcome. Otherwise follow Sincere’s instructions (or the mass of bikes down the A21) and we’ll see you on the beach.

first come and all that!!

Please be aware of high volumes of Traffic Cops ensuring that things are running smoothly.

PLEASE TAKE IT EASY.

And snipers on the fly overs or Was that the dream I had the other night…

you really do need to see a Dr!!

Ooh! With other 125s going it is so tempting! Unfortunatly I promised a friend just out of hospital and still quite restricted in what she can do for herself that we would help her out with anything she needs. She wants us to take her round IKEA tomorrow morning!

ikea are open til midnight in the week…just a thought!!

Stop trying to make my life more complicated!

I think I would rather kill this off tomorrow so I don’t have IKEA hanging over me all week! I have enough to keep my occupied as it is!

I wanna go but FFS that’s FAR! kinda tempted but nervous LOL… I have a 125 too & live in Carshalton, about 10 miles from the start.

Jackie and I are not far from you in Lower Morden. Green Hornet was talking about leading a 125 run next weekend from Box Hill towards Guildford going the back ways. Jackie and i would be happy to meet up with you if you are planning on going on that ride.

No one should feel nervous, it,s great fun & people will be looking out for you.
I went last year & could not believe the ammount of bikes there.

That sounds cool I’ll keep an eye out for updates on that one!

You not goin tomorrow then?

i’ve never ridden anywhere near that far before… today i went about 70 miles with a few stop offs, that was way my furthest so far LOL!

70 miles, not bad.
Were you at Box Hill today at about 10.30 - 11.00?
