MAYDAY RUN UPDATE

OMG, this sound all so tempting, particularly with me on my 125 VanVan still. Was planning to get some chores done tomorrow being as I spent today at Oakdene and Brands and haven’t done anything else. Damn damn damn…decisions decisions decisions.

if i go i’ll be chore dodging too LOL

I seem to chore dodge everyday though…shocking eh!!

whats happening on this thread,

visiting Ikea :they are open all year round

doing chores : they will be there tomorrow

HASTINGS TOMORROW its a one off

SO HASTINGS IT IS. 9am locksbottom

I say again, damn, damn, damn.

IKEA?? Chores??
Both will still be there waitng for you on Tuesday! But the Mayday Run comes but once a year!
At least ride over to Locksbottom and check out the masses and then if you can drag yourself away, go do your chores or go to Ikea (Ikea on a Bank Holiday…That is a chore!)

Just hope I can find Locksbottom…I used to be a Northerner you know.

Better get some shut eye I suppose if i’m going to give it a go…hey…one of the chores was to charge the battery on my scooter and stick it on ebay…it’s got to go so might put it on here too.

A northerner? from where? …I’m from Cheshire

I think I’m gonna leave from Carshalton about 10 (not an earlybird LOL) & go A232, A21 & pick up a mate in Tonbridge…

Thats right … you lot go off and have a great time whilst some of us can’t !!

Take your wet weather stuff, seen the forecast !

Safe ride to all of you.

just cos your mate cant get through a narrow gap.

speedy recovery baz, meanwhile Hastings here we come

This is the fourth time I have posted this, but it doesn’t appear for some reason.

For those who have not read all the strands of the IKEA thread - a friend moved house just before she was rushed to hospital for abdominal surgery. She cannot lift anything, but I have an oustanding promise to help her pick up furniture from IKEA. She has chosen Monday to call in that promise. Should I tell her to go and get screwed? I think not. Hastings has been there a thousand years and will be there next year!

You did the right thing! I didnt know the situation, It was just a typical ‘Biker Tease’!
Got back from Hastings about 2.30pm and felt like i had ridden through a carwash!
Hope you got your Ikea run done (and are not still in the queue),I came past the Croydon Ikea and it looked manic.
Happy flat pack assembling!

We met our friend in IKEA at about 10.40 and grabbed what looked like the last spare car space. After an hour or so, we had got round the store, picked up the table and chairs she wanted, and bought some small bits and pieces. We then found there wasn’t room for the furniture and everyone - so I drove over to her home in South Norwood, whilst she got the tram/bus and got there about five minutes after us. Jackie and I then had the carry the very heavy boxes up three flights of steps.

Our friend was no-where near strong enough to erect the table so I insisted on doing it as I had the tools in the car (and I miss my Lego set!) So I spent and hour putting it all together, only to discover the last piece had no thread! Whilst I was doing this we were hit by the very heavy rain so managed to escape that.

I ran our friend back to IKEA to get the replacement bit we needed, many roads were flooded. Dropped her off outside IKEA as the traffic was terrible. Took ages to get out of the area as everythign was jammed for about a mile in every direction. Feel shattered now! The last bit is just puttin a screw in now that she has the replacement part so our friend will manage. Now sitting at home feeling shattered!

Sorry the weather put paid to others fun though.

i did hastings to london on monday morning, did folk really expect me to nod back?!

Yep

Well done to Sincere for leading the ride down to Hastings, shame it was such a moist day.

Would have been dryer if we had jumped in the Thames at Woolwich and swam round the coast to Hastings!!!

Wel I kept nice and dry even in the rain cos I went on the back of a LARGE friends LARGE BMW with a high screen. Didn’t get cold or wet

Was bl**dy windy down there though and the rain was going sideways at one point. They had to tie the BMF gazebo to the lampposts and the car to keep it grounded

It just goes to show how mad we bikers are tho cos there was a good turnout in spite of the weather.

I went to locksbottom got there about 9:30 hung around for a bit then headed off to hastings. Had a burger got loads of pics then got bored and left about 13:30 got caught up in the rain on way back, Didn’t mind getting a bit wet, went to see my grandparents on way back dried off went home and vegged on sofa for rest of day. Did have DIY to do but sod it. I couldn’t believe how dirty the bike got from that little bit of rain, so took day off work yesterday and cleaned the bikes. Needed the day off to get over the bank holiday.

Buelligan, still trying to work out how you only had soaking wet bol locks and feet!!! sure you didn’t have an accident

Thats was due to the not so waterproof SIDI’s that are now going to be replaced, and the not even slightly waterproof Hein Gericke trousers over my jeans!!!
