Lewis Hamiltons win !!! (Not)

mm

objectively looking at it?

Looks like there might have been a little bit of room for Hamilton to stay on the rumble strip.

BUT I heard on the race commentary at the time that there was a nasty green section of concrete at the beginning of that rumble strip likely to break a car racing…

…So that might be why lewis really over turns the wheel left and onto the safety run off area…

…Lifting off his throttle to let the ferrari past…? Sounded like he was still accelerating away hard?

Great footage though.

I cant find it now.

Just read somewhere about the advantage issue…

If the guy goes off line and then gets an advantage, he has to back off and let the other driver in front.

Lewis did. On the straight, then immediately took the position before the next corner… this may be the problem.

BECAUSE…Then, he has to remain behind the driver who has regained his position for one more turn, to counterbalance the rules and order, then he can take an attempt to overtake again.

Awesome video of the incident(s) from the drivers perspective.

Great link thank you

Yep here it is, someones explanation on youtube as that footage has made its way there too…

Kimi was in his place in the last corner… so Hamilton had 2 options… go wide and cut, or break and go the full car behind Raikkonen… in this second option (the legal one) he had never been able to pass Kimi in the finish straight… this is advantage. Nevertheless, I’m with you that Kamilton deserved this victory and he would have been able to pass Kimi 2 or 3 corners later… but what happened is what happened, and in this isolated case, I think FIA is right…

I disagree with this. Hamilton was ahead going into the bus stop, kimi cut across him on the racing line and he had nowhere to go. I think the issue is this, that the rules state he should give him back the next corner, if he gained an advantage.

The greivance is whether the start finish line timing bar, where kimi was ahead after an alleged lift off, is enough, as the rules seem to say he must give up the next corner. In this light, its arguable, but perhaps they have a point.

However, what about kimi’s wide berth on Pohuon which is is clearly closer than he was when they entered the corner, despite both going off. Kimi clearly passes on the next corner, so whats the difference? (despite the dangerous intervention of the Williams…)

I think this will go on and on
