Leg broken by cager.

Hi folks - last week I was trundling along at very low speed minding my own business and a cager turned into me, busting both bones in my lower leg and sending me flying. Had to go into hospital for op to have stainless steel pin put in.Now at home hobbling about with leg in cast. Cager has admitted responsibility.

I’ve been riding for ten years and this is my first motorbike related fracture. The irony is that i was going incredibly slowly on my side of the road - (sub-ten m.p.h.) when cager just drove straight into me.

what I find astonishing - and frankly frightening - is the amount of damage I have sustained from such a low speed impact.

Christ… that’s awful news. I’m glad you’re (relatively) OK, though.

What did they think they were doing? Was it a typical smidsy?

Strewth, glad you’re up and about, sorry to hear this. Seems to be a spate of nasty injuries at the moment. It’s quite shocking how much damage can be done without the speed being very high.

Sorry to hear about your leg Sid. GWS mate.

That’ll teach you to ride slow:w00t:

By the way… What tyre pressures were you running?;)

Thanks guys, the reason I was going so slowly was that i was travelling along an access road in a large superstore car park - the woman must have spotted a parking space across this road and just put her foot down to get it - she said she never saw me! In spite of the fact that I had my headlights on and was moving at jogging pace!?

Ouch. Glad that you are now getting fixed up and that the driver has admitted full liability. Hope the claim goes smoothly. Seems to be a real spate of accidents recently and some seriously daft drivers out there.

Thats bad news mate but glad it wernt worse

fugging cagers

hope you have a speedy recovery

Damn SID! sorry to read this…!

Glad your ok-ish and hope you gws-ish

how fast was she going and what car was it… might explain why even if you were going slow the injury was serious!?

Good to hear that you are ok. I think the moral of this story is to go fast 100% of the time.

sounds like it’s a v-twin hunting season in full swing out there:blink: glad you’re not more seriously bashed up Sid.

Sorry to hear this, Sid. I hope youve got some good support around you for getting places! Make sure you get out and about a bit or you will be incredibly bored!

GWS x

sorry to hear this, a nice payout coming your way.

it was my point too, I was doing less than 50mph in a 70 mph when the cager had me and she is trying to say its my fault…frightfully cagers have no idea…and dont ever get between a woman driver and her right to be there…

It was just a small family car - not a FWD with bull bars etc.

Yeah - the irony - I end up with pins in my legs because i was on a bike and it happens like this. No stories for the pub/grandchildren - not exactly in the same league as Barry Sheene is it?

Terrible news. Get well.

Dont get me started - the respectable, polite, offering for a lady to go first has sometimes turned into a right, demanded by that “lady”.

Sorry to hear this Sid, GWS!

I can’t believe people can drive like this, I’d be mortified if I knocked someone over in my car and they ended up in hospital with a serious injury (and two pins in your leg that weren’t there before is serious enough for me!). What do these people think when they get behind the wheel of a car, I bet she thought ‘I didn’t see you’ would be enough to cover her incompetence?!?

sorry to hear this dude, hope you are up and about in no time.

seems to be a lot of people getting hurt at the moment, all very sad news. i’m going to be buying a high vis vest now i am riding home in the dark i think, anything to try and be more visible to these bloody idiots.

ride safe everyone.

GWS mate.

glad ur on the mend… i had a serious one at low speed years back… quite ironic really seeing as the government/ecilop want us to slow down so we don’t die when we crash, but all these slow speed crashes put people in hospital at the expense of taxpayers…
