When I started reading this thread I thought you were joking then realised that you wernt. The answer to your question is YES, I get my knee down regulary on my Hornet, and yes it is at the standad ride height and with standard rearsets, just without hero blobs.I personally wouldnt lend mine out for people to pratise on especially if your trying to sell it, but thats just me.So to answer your question, yes you can get your knee down on a hornet…
Okay - I will try and get my knee down on it post haste !! It’s a CB600F Hornet and I shall be posting up picture evidence shortly to rival Ratty’s knee down on the roundabout and Tattoist Chicks knee down / sparks flying and Sebs knee down U Tube race vid.
hels be careful yeah as i know someone with a hornet who obviously didn’t get his body positioning sorted out before he tried it and ran out of tyre resulting in a scratched up bike. not what you want pre-sale!
photos are an incredibly useful resource to work on your body positioning. as is any info you can find on the net or here. all i’d say is that what helped me was to have my inside foot (ball/toes) on the edge of the peg, get my arse properly off the side of the seat and drop my shoulder and head to the inside of the corner/roundabout. build it up slow and see how you go.
be careful though as there’s always the possibility of low-siding in front of a car/truck/arctic as it pulls onto the roundabout! :w00t:
im still working on body postioning, i can get KD no probs now, but i keep decking my pegs outs wich is not good! trying to get my head angle right and drop my shoulder more.
The guy/s who told me it couldn’t be done are lovely people, so maybe they were just pulling my leg? LOL:D A mate of mine said today it is very hard to get your knee down, and you have to start by scraping the pegs. For me I think the weight of my bike would put me off a bit, it’s a quite solid 600 and I wouldn’t want it to land on top of me if I misjudged the angle, but as you folks have said - body positioning is everything, so let us see.
Anyways if Ratty can do it, anyone can, easy peasy photo on next week I reckon!!
hi dude, i deleted it from YT as it was a bit dodge i think. didn’t want to encourage people to go out and do it that fast really.
heres a couple of me racing last year instead…
no need to read the below bit gabs…as you’re a hoon already lol
…only attempt it if you have good bike control and clealry comprehend that in a split milisecond you could go from hero to zero and be in a lot of pain.
they might have been trying to tell you that you can’t do it on the roads you were riding on. A roundabout, easy. Doing it on a country road, very suspect. Possible, but you have to be riding like a complete idiot…
