When I say “ghetto” where do you think of? Am planning a project next year and need to know where you guys rate
(and by rate I mean as a “ghetto” not as a place that is great to go to. I accept they’re often a bit run down in their own way

What’s your definition of ghetto ?
hackney, brixton, tottenham, harlesden, willesden,clapton,dalston, leyton, walthamstow, l’stone, bow, most of east london!!

At the risk of offending any residents who might be on here… I think the North Peckham Estate is a bit of a ghetto… although they have rebuilt most of it
I don’t think hackney is a ghetto anymore it has improved so much over the years, not all east london are ghetto they probably were ghetto but not anymore and so the reputation got stuck.
my fiancee used to live in hackney wick and from what i saw of the area it’s is a major sh!t hole. seriously

shooting stabbings, robberies, i know people that wont venture int hackney at all…its a ghetto, just cos theres a fe new ‘flats’ built so the yuppys can live close to the city…dont mean its changed, at all.
infact most of london is ghetto.

actually, from someone whos not from london, i liked living in walthamstow.
everywhere you go has run down parts and places that are unsafe.
Hackney and Bow make me laugh, you have all the yuppies moving into their posh flats, then complaining about stabbings, muggings and shootings!
I hate where i live at the moment, Tottenham is a ghetto…
ha ha if you want to see ghetto go to Caracas or Rio…makes these estates in London look like Beverley Hills

i was dragged up in that area!! we used to go swimming in the docks where these flats are built now because there was nothing else to do!! i know uuaarggh!!! well either that or go out joyriding!!!
exactly what ratty says “it dont make it a nice area cause they build new flats for yuppys” there are some flats around there that sell for £2.5 MILLION!!! but its still a sh1thole!!!

Name me a place where there isn’t any stabbing or shooting or muggers. I ve leave in hackney for nearly 15yrs . from what it use to be now it is a lot better. There probably alot of people who come from third world country , think east london is haeven. Parts of america are real ghetto, i wouldn’t say we have ghetto as bad as others.
so the murder rate going up is nothing is it? or the amount of stabbings now days…or the murder mile in clapton where more fatal shootings have happened than in any other part of london…or the fact that homerton hospital now has army medics that work there before the go on tour in afghanistan or iraq beacuase no other hospirtal in teh counrty deals with more gunshot wounds…
you cant compare with america or most other countries as guns etc are far more readily availible…especially america.

Crimes happens everywhere that doesn’t make it doesn’t make it ok. But its not ghetto. Third world countries don’t have a pot to pee in , no food to feed there family , people can’t afford the clothes on there back. Hackney is not runned down . go to india to the shanty town now thats ghetto

sorry DR but i disagree, we are talking about london/uk here not other countries.
you should speak to some of the people i know, hear what goes on, a run down crime ridden area is ghetto.
