How do I pick my first LB rideout?

I’ve been riding for less than 2 years, have put 7000 miles on the clock of my Suzuki SV650, commute through London traffic everyday and really want to sign up for my first LB rideout… but how do I know which one to sign up for so I don’t make a complete idiot of myself. Anyone remember what it’s like to be new to LB and have any useful advice for the new girl

My Advice is this

Just hook up to any of the arranged rideouts. Great bunch on here will make you feel welcome.

Welcome to LB

I would just send a pm to the person organising it telling them if you want to take it fast or slow and how many miles you want to do, and they can advise you.

You’re definitely in the right place, we are very lucky to have some fantastic rideout organisers on this site.

To be frank you’ll be fine on virtually all the rideouts, with a few exceptions depending on how you ride. Most rides use the cornerman system(explained fully in the section) which caters for all abilities. Do one and you’ll never look back and get on more without a doubt

Timr does some fantastic newbie rideouts, send him a pm, he will be glad to help:)

Oh yeah I forgot TimR. Heard good things about his rides for newbies

TimR does some good ones for newbies

Depends how you like to ride - it sounds like you’re experienced enough on the bike… but it all depends how fast/slow you like going and how long you wanna ride for. Some people do massive daytrips (no offence Jets) and some people do short blats.

It can all be solved with a PM to the organiser - asking them some details etc

Chris

I wish i had the time to do more to be honest! Take all the advice provided above and just pick one you fancy. The cornerman system is great in that it caters for all riders, if you like riding quickly then you’ll spend time being a cornerman and overtaking the others () and if you’re taking it easy then the tailgunner will keep you within the group. I’ve only done one LB rideout so far but loved it and everybody was sound.

Thanks guys - all good advice

Your be fine. Don’t sit on your hands get out to a ride out!!!

As a general rule of thumb, of the regular rides -

TimR’s rideouts - suitable for anyone. There will be people of all abilities and experience. Usually runs up to 200 miles.

Jetstream’s rideouts - suitable for anyone not on a 125 who isn’t looking for too much attention. Whilst the pace will be swifter, keeping to legal speeds won’t have you left behind, but there will be opportunities to go much faster if you want. Could go almost anywhere, and may get back after dark, but it will be interesting with plenty of good stops, maybe a ford, a ferry or even a competitive Pooh Sticks competition.

Breakfast Club - A regular Sunday Morning ride on technical roads that has caught many a newbie out.

All the rides use the cornerman system, and none of the other riders will expect you to ride otherwise than how you wish to. No one wants a ride to end waiting for an ambulance, and excessive testosterone isn’t appreciated. Rideouts organised here are not competitive but very friendly in my experience, and I ride a scooter!

Don’t worry about it. There’s a knack to riding in a group for sure, but you’ll figure that out.

My very first ride out was with a group of dirt-bikes, I was running late, they all gave me a big wave hello when I did arrive 5 mins late, and I was in such a hurry to park up I forgot to bother with the side-stand!

let the leader know that ur new and u’ll be just gr8.

we cater for all types.

Bcr if ur a mentalist (on a sporty bike)

the jets (everything rolled into one)

TimR “cool, calm and collected” but still fast enough when he gets the red mist"

Ps that migt be alot :P:D:P luf ya tim!!!

Welcome to LB …

Start out on one of TimR’s ‘125 friendly and new to big bikes ride outs’

Edit: here you go LINKY HERE

my first lb rideout was the bcr, dont recommend for all though. Go for a jetstream ride I’d say

That’s a long way down… :w00t:

hahaha… mine too. That was an eye opener…

ride4fun: for if you like it more fast paced and a good work out but not racing speeds

+1 for the dunstable downs rideouts

How about the RBLR1000. and it’s only next week.
