Can you make that inches, Matt…
Ha
Been summing up the courage to take the mountain bike out around some the hills nearby, but I’ve failed.
I’m weak
If I was gifted with 12 inches I bet there would be no problem and the women would come running. ahem
Some say I run like a horse
On all fours? !! With somebody riding you bare-back??
Walked (cantered) into that one me thinks
By the look of the avatar, it’s not the only thing you’ve walked into!
Only just read this thread, always have a set of jump leads in the car as the bike needs a jump start so often. The SV battery is knackered, always starts at work as is in a covered carpark but wont start at home if its cold and damp. Need to get a permanant connection to the battery though as having to keep taking the seat off is a pain in the arse

One of the mods I am gonna make to my bike is adding an accessory adapter port (Cigar lighter, with out the heatng bit)This wuld make charging the battery a doddle and mean with special leades I can be jump started or jump start others :o).
Well, the Vespa was fixed, as much as it can be, today.
Got a new 14amp battery and a regulator, which will, we hope, sort the problem.
Part of the problem is that I’m not riding long enough, as my commute is only 10-15min each way, so it doesn’t have time to charge the battery, especially as I need to hit 2,500 revs continuously to do that, and at 30mph, I just don’t.
The other problem is that every time I turn the ignition, I lose 3amps because of the unnecessarily large and powerful headlight. And, if I only regain them at 2.5k+ revs, next time I start the bike with just 11amps, etc.
So, part of the solution is for me to change my riding distance, and every few days instead of riding straight home, to go for a spin at higher revs, and at weekends do a bit more non-local riding.
So, if weekend is nice, who’s up for a trek out of town?
On the scoots? Why the hell not. Where are you thinking about going?
Doesn’t even have to be just scoots, I don’t mind pootling along at a leisurely 50mph and catch up with the rest.
As to where to go, I don’t mind really, explore the outer reaches of London, as it’s a white zone in my mental map. Down Richmond way, or even go to Hampton Court (adding a bit of culture), or just go for a ride up to Epping Forest (that I’ve done before, so know it’s doable even on a scoot). Alternatively, the ruins of Verulamium in St Albans.
Or anywhere else for a few hours to give my battery a good seeing-to, as long as it stays dry!
Well the Monster is still on holiday so have no choice.
Could go down to my country club for tea, what what
Your “country club”? Hooray… In my red Frank Thomas outfit, complete with squeaky boots? Sure, why not! Should I pack my golf clubs? Anyone for tennis?
Is the food good? :shifty: (don’t have emoticons using Firefox)
Fab food but the down side is that it’s smart casu.
Could always go to the secret nuclear bunker instead
You mean this one?
Ssssssh
LOL you guys…
You can join us if you want, you’ll find the Secret Nuclear Bunker in the second volume of the “Secret Military Installations of the UK” (available from all good bookshops), with full directions, including the location of any minefields.
Handy.
Every home should have one oui?
Every self-respecting home in Baghdad does, I believe…
