The bl00dy Italian piece of sh1t won’t start! OK, so it’s a bit chilly, but this is getting ridiculous now! As you may remember, it kept oversleeping in November but that was fixed (or so I thought) by getting a new 12V battery to replace the 9V one in it. The workshop checked the bike over as well to see if there was a mechanical problem and thought the bike was OK.
It didn’t start this morning, and I waited for the breakdown people for two hours, and was almost done for soliciting by a passing police car . Tried the ignition just now and it’s dead as a dodo.
The breakdown people will charge if they come to jumpstart me this afternoon, as they’ve already been once today (bring your own jumpleads, though), so is anybody going to be in the City area this evening (anytime btw 6-7.30pm) who could jumpstart my bike for me so I can limp home with it? Alternatively, if somebody has one of those portable kits they could bring me earlier so I can jumpstart it myself when I can go home.
The problem is that nobody carries jump leads any longer. So far, in the few occasion I’ve had this problem, I’ve asked about a dozen of cars, vans and taxis and nobody has them.
Oh well, it’s only another £100 for the SOS guys to come and jumpstart my bike.
Bought a battery charger (& air compressor, comes with a handy light, too) at Robert Dyas for £25. Also bought jump leads for £10. The battery charger, surprisingly, came fully charged, so lugged that back to my bike and recharged my bike.
Well, except that I didn’t, a very nice fellow biker (on a very exciting looking red Ducati (one of those sporty ones with full fairings), with a very lovely gf, though), did it for me. Well, you didn’t really expect me to get my hands dirty, did you?
As my commute is only 15min and needed to take the bike for a spin to fully charge the battery, and because I was feeling peckish, I changed my destination to Chez Cezar! Mmmmm…
So, if anybody gets stranded (pref fairly central), give me a call/PM and I’ll come and relight your fire if at all possible.
Nope, it’s liquid. Just doesn’t like the cold. I’m hoping it was just because Monday night was particularly cold rather than it being a symptom of something more serious, read expensive!
Didn’t really want to leave the bike there overnight, as at night it’s quite a deserted area where a van would not look out of place.
Hmmm, perhaps I should buy a 15 tog duvet for the bike… Finest Hungarian goose down, naturally.
Quick, run and hug a tree (or touch any other piece of wood you see)! I’m only a phone call away. If I can’t do it, I wonder if those girl scouts are still around…
Started a new job last week at a very nice place, with very nice people and with a very nice salary!
