The Police don’t seem to be able to find my MV Augusta Senna but to there credit the cunts are getting good at spotting MV’s in there radar!
Last nite rasta and I were buzzing around the west end.
We went through the piccadilly underpass heading west at about 1:00am him in the outside me on the inside, last time I took the left lane I was caught by the *******s on my Senna doing 52 ( I am waiting for the for the court Case there going for 6pts 3 for speeding and 3 for the tyre which was 0.1 of a mllimetre under the 10mm required by law).
This time they caught me doing 61 on my Brutale. The cop said if I accept the 3pts and a fixed penalty fine of £60 he will put it down at 59 in a 30 that way I dont get an automatic ban for doing twice the speed limit, some choice!
I was given a Producer and a Fixed Penalty Notice.
Am I ****ed or should I take it to court as he as now marked the ticket 59mph?
Argh, mate, you numpty! I posted up about this speed trap in the ‘Road Watch’ forum on Friday night! We went through it as well. They were ticketing non-stop there. They’re making a LOT of money! I’d take the 3pts if I were you (gladly). You’re just lucky you weren’t going any faster!
D’oh, did you not see Jay’s post about the coppers in the Piccadilly underpass???
Safety nazi hat firmly on: what were you thinking going that fast in a tunnel? If there’s anything in your way there, you’ve got no leeway at all! I don’t even filter in a tunnel, let alone speed, but then, I’m a sensible woman…
You’ve been a naughty boy, Vinnie, go to my room!
Having said that, as the documents say 59mph and the radar evidence would say 61mph, perhaps this could be used in court to suggest the reading was incorrect.
As for the tyre from the previous incident, I doubt they can measure a tyre at the roadside in fractions of 0.1mm! Sounds dodgy to me!
Paivi, because it’s fun. Big bikes make riding in tunnels like this with shell-grip an absolute joy. I wouldn’t try to contest it, the word of a Police Officer stands for a hell of a lot, and he’ll just say he gave you a chance to repent your crime!
It reminds me of when my bike got nicked though - I was so gutted, and all these other things kept happening, on top of my guttedness - it was like guttedness overkill.
The other **** I’d normally be able to handle - I’d be pissed off - but handleable,
but losing my bike - AND all that crap - Vinnie I DO know how you feel mate!!
I stick to limits in towns etc because I am paranoid about getting knicked but I mean surely there should be some factors taken into account. Sure enough he was speeding but at 1am in a quiet tunnel where no one else is around? If it was in the rush hour then fair enough but I mean come on 1am? Just the two of them. It’s a bit harsh isn’t it?
hey vinnie - i’d without a doubt take the 3 pts. if you go to court, they’ll almost certainly deem it as wasting the courts time as the officer has already dealth with it (in a fairly lenient manner). As you’re nearly double the speed limit, they are very likely to award you 6 points to a ban, and maybe a big fine on top from what i’ve been told.
I’m due in court for exactly the same 59 in a 30 on the 1st feb - if the copper had dealt with it as 3 points at the roadside I’d be thanking my lucky stars…
the tyre thing is a bit of a joke - that thread has come up a few times. loads of bike tyres don’t even have grooves in the middle, let alone sufficient depth but they’d be legal. at a guess its down to sh*thead illegal cabbies and pikies riding round with the steel poking out the rubber so they set a rule they can get them on, and the rest of us have to wear it
I would be tempted to take the 3 points, its better than the ban and a hefty fine.
I know that there is a huge case coming up against cameras and the fact that they are not accurate when recording a bikes speed. Follow the story in MCN, huge article in last weeks. There is a test case coming up, and if the guy wins, it would set a precedent that could be used in other cases. MCN and lots of people have gone to great lengths in this case to prove that speed detection equipment is not accurate when used against a motorcycle.
In tunnels its allways good to go for the big bang a loud backfire caused by hitting the kill switch revving the bike then turning the kill switch back on is loads of fun.
vinnie… take the points… courts dont like bikers especially if the copper was giving u options which they dont usually do! sorry to hear that but the post was up… more reading required!
