Well its been a while since an update I have not given up just yet i’m waiting for things to sort themselves out the tank has been paid for i’m just waiting for it to come in the post, I managed to get hold of a gear selector rod from Spares Direct on the Harrow Road they have loads in stock (but not the bolts needed for it), I have just ordered the carbon fiber fender and frame covers they should be with me next week along with a white rear light unit and tail tidy all I need now is a suzuki carbon look tank pad & those bolt and all will be right in the world again.
Just been bidding on a K&N filter but didn’t get it. Some other buggers had the same plan as me and it went from a tenner to £20 in the last thirty seconds
Hey DA, just got a copy of the workshop manual from Danno. Cheers fella! Worked out the location of the Relay for indicators. Sits just under the seat but it looks nothing like the ones the guy I bought indicators from was saying I need. It also acts as the switch for the sidestand…
I was told they don’t do a relay for the suzuki but they are all the same except for the plugs, I brought a honda one for mine and stripped it down and then installed it, it actually goes in quite easy.
Got it with a tail tidy and full bobbin kit. Stuck a Street legal can on, but it was too quite for my liking so attacked the baffle with a drill Will ditch the Pillion pegs and get a propper hanger for the can. LED rear indicators on, just need to get the fronts replaced. Thinking about a clear D Bubble, not sure yet. I like carbon fibre air rams but they are just for show so they will be last on the list of mods. First a K&N filter, if the buggers on ebay don’t outbid me again Thinking of asking Santa for a Carbon Fibre rear hugger. Maybe do something with the headlight. Oh and spare bodywork if I do go near a track. What else, CF mudgaurd? Had one on my last bike but TBH doesn’t do much for the bike. Depends how frivelous I feel. PCIII, again just a question of cash. Probably not worth the the extra money from what I have heard.
If you have a picture of that Jaymbee I’d be interested in seeing how it is hooked up. I don’t really want to start hacking the OEM relay to pieces. Resistors would be far simpler. I’ve already lopped off the rear indicator contacts so the Suzuki ones are redundant.
WoW my tail tidy and rear light unit came today and I ordered them yesterday afternoon my new petrol tank came a few hours after those and so before and after the Ace I tried fitting as much as I could.
Pic: 28 Petrol tanks & renthal grips Pic :29 New toys… Petrol tank, SP2 Gloves, Tail tidy and a clear rear light unit. Pic :30 Tail tidy on - Switch gear being changed & I done a lil burnout this morning
I managed to get the switch gear on and it proved to be a real pain in Da arse the wire loom goes from the clipon to a connector placed stupidly under the air box which ment removing the air box just to rewire it
I now have the Renthal grips on but brought the wrong bar ends so ill have to change those tomorrow.
Changing the tank and petrol caps over was a lot easier than I first thought…thank God, but why on Gods green earth would someone think that tank pad suited a K4 gixxer.
Last but not least I gave the rear light unit a try but will wait till tomorrow before fitting it.
I took her into the garden for some vitamin D today, so heres the pic.
All im waitin on now is my rear light relay, bar end bolts and a nut for the rearset and she’ll be complete, the stock indicators will have to go back on as the aftermarket ones & carbon fender won’t be here till my next payday.
Ridelikaking Alpinestars boot along with the crutches are safely tucked up at home
I may bring her out next Sunday Im just waiting on some new bike clothes and a few trick bits to arrive in the post.
Danno I was planning on getting a Sato/NWS style hanger as I can’t find just a straight line exhaust hanger like the ones found on most Moto GP rides.
Jay thanks, there will only be a few more picx left to take then the rebuild is complete.
