Such a rare freak accident, but sickening to watch it happen mere metres away. Was almost in tears when I saw it as I thought the worst had happened there and then.I hoped he would pull through when I read he had regained consciousness.

I feel so gutted now…It brings home how easily life can be taken away.

RIP Craig. I can’t begin to imagine what the family are going through. My thoughts are with them.

I just heard about it from someone at work who was at Brands yesterday.

I was totally shocked when i heard about it. I feel really sorry for the friends and family.

Very sad news. I feared the worst by the length of time he was lying on the track surrounded by medics.

I was also rather upset by the callous disregard shown by the track commentator who prattled on endlessly as though nothing had happened. I gather this is not the first time he has been so disrespectful.

Very sad news indeed, I’ve commented on the news piece.

But I will stand up for Fred Clarke, the commentator, who is coming in for a bit of stick for his actions while the medics attended to the accident.

Fred has been doing this job for more years than Chunky’s had hot dinners so this is not the first serious accident he’s been on duty for and I think it’s a little out of order to suggest that he did the wrong thing yesterday when it really is unclear what the right thing actually is.

I noticed that the TV feed was cut abruptly and I think Fred did the equivalent by not talking about it. Should he have drawn every spectator’s attention to it? Started speculating on it while for all he knew Craig may have died on the tarmac?

I suspect he’d have caught some flack either way.

Also, I don’t think we should use this thread for commentator discussions so lets call this an end or start a new one ok folks?

I totally agree with Andrew’s comments here.

I was unlucky enough to have been there to witness the true horror of Craig’s crash and I think Fred Clark did a great job of trying to distract peoples attentions off the situation unfolding on track.

I’m sick of people picking holes to be honest. It’s just so insignificant and unnecessary.

Think of those effected rather than yourself for a change.

I still disagree Andrew and I believe the length of time someone is in service isn’t always a measure of how good they are.I was so angry yesterday and disgusted…I don’t care what people say on here,

Ofcourse, you wouldn’t get a camera in to show the whole horrific scene as a moron was trying to insinuate that I was suggesting, but like when Marco Melandri was dragged along by Pedrosa’s bike in GP a few years back to the shock of all who witnessed it…

You would at least say something along the lines of…“That was a horrible crash, we hope that rider’s ok” before moving on with the coverage.

To go on and joke and talk about the programme and just talk general nonsense was completely crass.

That’s my point.

+1. The camera stayed on Craig for a few seconds after the crash and it obviously didn’t look good. But you still don’t expect this morning’s news.I’ve only just found out from the posts on this forum and I feel really strange. Maybe it’s because I saw it as it happened, the image of him laying on the track won’t leave me for a while.RIP Jonesy. Condolences to all that knew him. Thoughts to Andrew Pitt too, who I believe was the rider that couldn’t avoid him.

really terrible news. scary to see just how a simple mistake can end up so messed up. i know that corner has a reputation for hitting riders hard but even so.

Sympathies to the Jones family, his extended racing family, his girlfriend and Andrew Pitt. He was a wonderfull rider and we will always remember him for his great character and racing genius. What a terrible loss for us all.

I hate this. It really takes my enthusiasm for the sport and tests it.
