Hey everyone,this has nothing to do with bikes but im in a situation that sseems so f**ked up.
im looking for anyone on here that knows about or works in imigration. its sad how our laws work.
right, first of all a little about the situation.
i met my partner Maria 2 years ago & since then we have fallen deeply in love. we have lived together for just over a year now & things couldnt be happier. its amazing how good it feels when your perfect for each other…yeah yeah! i know its soppy but its true.
im british & my partner maria is 23 & russian. she left rusia when she was 13 to study abroad & has been living in the uk for four years now on a student visa. she finished her BSC at royal hollaway & just completed her Masters at UCL. the thing is now, she has to the end of january before her student visa runs out then she’ll have to go back home…well if you can call russia home since she left when she was 13.she doesnt even have a accent. if she goes back then there is a slim to none chance of her getting back to the uk.
she has been looking for work since sept but in this country they offer the jobs to everyone in the eu countries first, then after six months if no one takes the job very few companies may then offer outside eu to exceptional individuals. thats fu**ed. she needs a company who is willing to apply for a work visa for her but again, very few companies do this… a little thing like that could keep her here. she just needs a company with offices in uk to apply.
its so messed up, we let everyone into this country, everyone!! & alot of them just scrounge off our goverment. yet there is my babygirl who has studied bloody hard to get where she is & now i may lose her coz of red tape.
sorry to go on but this pisses me off.
well if anyone can give any advice what so ever or recommend some companies to apply to. we would really appreciate itthank you Alex & Maria
Depends on her skills, maybe she can get a work permit on the Highly Skilled Migrant Program, I have hired people using this and it cuts out a lot of the hassle. I know another russian who is here on that as well.
Whatever it is, be prepared for a tough ride, anything to do with immigrantion is a toughie.
katana, if you were here now i think i would give ya a smack for that…i wanna marry her but she doesnt want to marry for exactly the reasons you guys are writing. she wants to marry once she has a right to stay here…elad, we thought about the highly skilled one but she needs experience to get on that scheme. she shy by 5 points…arrrrrrrrrrrr!want sort of company do you run?

ditto…that gives you a 2 year marriage visa, and then after that she can apply for indefinate leave to remain. You can renew your vows later…You’ll need to act now though - you both need to get the certificate saying you are both free to marry.Or go to Russia with her!
Well, the applications & money have been sent off for the graduate scheme. also added a few 00’S to her account…fingers crossed.

she’s temping at the mo as no one wants to hire without a visa.
to be honest, im shi**ing myself. we.ve been together for 2 years & plan to get married, hopefully in the summer after ive been to moscow & asked her father. she’s the best thing thats happened to me & i dont want to lose her. if she has to go then i’ll be half the man i am now.
its crazy, she left russia at 13 to study, switzaland then uk. she’s worked hard to gain good qualifications so that she can have choices but because of all the red tape in this country it could go either way. & i know if she is forced to go back it will be so difficult to come back.
thanks to those that have tried to help…espeically Marcus. even though it didnt work out we are extremely grateful to you. your one in a million. just wish there were more people like you in this world.
Marrying makes no difference these days. My niece is married to the father of one of her children and he is about to be deported to Uganda. He has been an excellent father to her other two children, which is more than you can say for their natural father. They have been told their only chance of him being allowed to stay here is for them to try and settle in another EU country. Once there they will have to live there long enough to apply for naturalisation, then they can come back here as EU citizens.
Then we can have an LB wedding!!
