Best quality appliances

Need to buy a new fridge freezer.

If your current one has lasted 5 years or more, can you tell me what make it is.

Looking to get a good one that will last.

Cheers

Whatever you do - do not buy Neff. Their products are generally good but their customer service is atrocious!!! I had to have a couple of small things fixed under warranty (the item was damaged during delivery) and it took 4 months to deal with the main damage and it is still not fixed

Miele

Miele and Kichen Aide both expensive, I would get them if i had the budget.

Yes Miele.Been looking at Miele http://www.miele.co.uk/fridge-freezers/freestanding/kt12510s-429/ but too small…They give a bias of refrigeration over freezing but I need about 50/50 and the other models have dimensions which won’t fit in the space available

What about Zanussi?

Siemens, bought it from the previous house owners eight years ago not sure how long they had it before that.

I like Candy

That’s true about Siemens lasting well. That Monica Lewinsky scumbag kept some of BIll Clintons on a dress for ages…

One with a 5 year guarantee?

Bosch, or Seimens, but they are the same product anyway, owned by the same company.

I heard good stuff about Hotpoint

Conrad is correct about one with a 5 year guarantee. HOWEVER. If they offer a 5 yr then they EXPECT it to last at least that long so I generally dont bother. fridges are hardy appliances. I wouldnt bother with something exotic or expensive as the internals are very often another cheaper brand rebranded. Just get a middle of the range and live happily ever after.

Double check the % dimentions as some are 50/50 60/40 70/30 etc

Afro have you ever had smeg

we had a Smeg in the flat we bought in Cheltenham (it came with the flat).

Did need some basic servicing done to it but it packed up after 10 years. When we looked at replacing it, we saw how expensive they were and now have a samsung (yeah I didn’t know they made these either) one - so far so good…

We have a few AEG appliances (Fridge & washing machine/dryer), which are doing pretty well, though not yet upto 5 years. Got a Bosch dishwasher. Dad has a 15 year old Bosch dishwasher still going strong! After Miele, Bosch & AEG seem to be the next best choices.

We had Baumatic stuff with our fitted kitchen (including fridge) - all shite. Though I guess we did get 5 years out of most of it… It was all just crappy built though, so started falling to bits and annoying you (dishwasher not cleaning stuff, fridge shelves to narrow to stay up, door not shutting, oven being crap’n’slow etc), to t he extent you wanted to it all to hurry up and die so you could replace it!

Just replaced our Bosch Fridge/Freezer that was 10 plus years old with another one. bought it from here http://www.appliancesonline.co.uk

Bosch here , frost free job , been going for 8 years now !

Thank you very much

Going for Bosch

You could try Ebay for a fridge. For some reason there are a lot on there like this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ARGOS-FRIDGE-/221122645423?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Kitchen_Fridges_Freezers&hash=item337befcdaf

As an appliance I think generally they either work or they don’t so if one is in full working order it should be ok. On brands, one of the flats I lived in had a load of Beko stuff. I think that’s a Dixons brand. Cheap but they were all working fine when I arrived and when I left 4 years later.
