Arnie got done! Again...

+1

i was honestly going slow…

Yes I know what you meant. I was trying to make a point to other people. I’m sorry.

Indeed it is. But with the increase in numbers on the road, not just on The BCR (The BCR used to start at 6.30am-7.30am), the margin for error, not just our own errors, but the errors for other road users has to increase. As I tried to say before, in the initial few seconds of an incident we could have had a car, 5 bikes and 6 riders scattered across the road. Anyone following at speed could never avoid further collision.

I deliberately did not mention any names when I mentioned this incident, can I just comment on the very sensitive attitude from our hero when he had a coming together on track (at Brands Hatch in April) with another rider. NOT!

The other incident (the Suzuki one that we’re not going to mention) and the inability of some riders to assess that its better to have to ride as a group at 8/10 of your own ability for the sake of you fellow riders and road users is prompting me to go earlier and have a faster safer ride.

sorry but to me it sounded liek you was having a go at me??

maybe if its teh case, BCR shouldnt be advertised on the forum…i thought it was a rideout, and a ride for others to gain confidence, and have the chance to tackle some tricky roads with teh advice of other experienced riders like ya self, if people cant control themsleves and know ones willing to speak up and tell them to behave or calm down, then it shouldnt be advertised as open to all??

sorry but thats how i view it.

Ratty don’t be silly what he’s saying is at that time of the morning no one wants to get up so it won’t be so full and less people on the roads means the faster the road wioth less risk. Sneaky doesn’t give up BCR very lightly but he is willing to help if it help others be better rider. So pls don’t read something else into it. And only nutcase like us are willing to go out at 6.30 in the morning :w00t:

ok mayeb i read it wrong?

i can do earlier but not all the time!:w00t:

I don’t know who it was on the Suzuki, didn’t see the incident and know nothing about it other than it happened, but I think it’s a bit rough to have not stopped and exchanged details or arranged to pay for the damage. We’re quick enough to moan when it happens to us so would have been nice to see a bit of responsibility demonstrated to rectify our mistakes too.

Arnie mate, no-one goes 72 in a 40 and doesnt know it, you just don’t care :ermm:fair enough but please don’t kill anyone; directly or indirectly

now i’m no angel outside of built up areas, so i’m a hypocrite, but in-town is too risky for all involved

you know this and seem a decent bloke, look after yourself and others, whilst having as much fun as possible

Phew…read through this all eventually.

Leaving aside the politics of endorseable licenses for overseas drivers. I just want to ask why anyone would be using 6th gear on a 40 limit?? Tacit admission of too much loud hand right there in my book.

I was out again, this weekend, spreading the Gixer word around the roads of Sussex sometimes at warp factor nine. The reason I have had a clean license for the last ten years is that I know when it’s appropriate and I use those two little jelly filled objects in the front of my face to OBSERVE. Not just looking at the bumper of the car in front as I suspect quite a few (especially newer riders do…), but way down the road…vanishing point…side roads…motorway on ramps…cameras…every BMW/Volvo or other likely plain clothes car (how many arials, yellow jackets) Plus all the bits and bobs on the bike are road legal giving little excuse for a tug.

Arnie…take care out there and try not to get done again fella. Take it to the track!!

Flippin 'eck - took me all morning to read this thread (and get some work done, lol)

Arnie - I was doing exactly as you’re doing now and it took a few people, who I respected, to tell me to calm it down and that I was taking uneccesary risks. I’m much more chilled now and try to work on my riding skills instead of going balls out everywhere. Don’t get me wrong - I’m no angel but I try to make the risks I take more calculated.

I think you’re at the invincible stage that we go through when we get good at going fast, especially after doing a few track days and our confidence is high - too high. This is the point a lot of people have ‘big’ accidents and learn their lesson. You’ve not had to have the ‘big’ accident but hopefully this is enough to make you reconsider your riding style.

Don’t go buggering off anywhere as you’d be sorely missed here

So many of you are coming down on the guy without knowing the stretch it was done on.

I cross the Brent x flyover every day and it is a dual carriageway elevated with no traffic lights or crossings…in fact there it central fence about 6 foot high. when going north or south over it, it is one of the easiest places to open up your bike without worry. You only have to worry about when it comes down as there are slip roads which sometimes police will be in (as arnie found out) 72 is actually not that fast for that stretch and if you stand up there for an hour you will see bike after bike (and cars) speeding and often a lot faster than 72 mph.

The only thing you are going to kill is yourself !

if the road was anywhere else it would have a national speed limit but it does not make sense for them to change it for what is about 1/2 mile of straight.

and on the issue of foreign licenses remember it works both ways ! the amount of British drivers/riders who treat holiday destinations like a no rules playground and often get a slap on the wrist !

+1 i do a fair chat over that section and most of you know i’m by no means a fast rider but it is pretty safe to do 60-70 on the over pass

It is!

Its not as far as I’m concerned? I’m happy to help if asked or even proffer some help if it keeps someone out of A&E. For me doing The BCR is that I know how much I love gr8 roads and I like to share that with like riders that would appreciate them as I do, thats it for me!:w00t:

Arnie and I did discuss it;)

why be sorry?:hehe: I hope that the BCR delivers what you want from it. It often does for me:cool:

I dont mean to be rude by my bluntness. For me The BCR experience is a layed back thing in its structure. But I love the complex way it melds together. From the Supermoto’s flat out at less than 100mph to Rikster’s rocket ship thats just coming to the top of first gear at the same speed! I could do some of those roads on my roller blades and have fun!

Jeremy Clarckson once likened different marques of coupe cars to types of coffee. The BCR for me should be a double expresso. To someone else it may be some week frothy sh1t with chocholate sprinkled on it. If that someone else gets home in one piece and has ticked their own boxes I’m a happy phuck!

i’ll give you a call sneaky

I started reading this thinking - tit,

**but ** then again on my commute home I do 70+ in 40 zones (3 lanes = motorway but watch for cameras in my book). Only difference is I think if I got caught I’d just think bugger, bad luck.

Been driving 12 years, riding 12 weeks and still yet to be caught, but that doean’t mean I’m safer than anyone.

In fact on the BCR someone complained to me that they ‘didn’t like’ my overtaking of a grey fiesta. Honestly, it made me pied that somone said that, but again mayb it was just my reaction that was different, because on reflection I shouldn’t have overtaken it when I did, and i was too aggressive - a rush of blood to the head or whatever. Also, the bloke saying that - although it pied me off, it did have a second effect - i rode like a stoned nun all the way back to town.

Live and learn.

-oh and apologies to whoever it was that had the word - no hard feelings - you were right.

I havent done the BCR - yet!

Can I request as “job” myself that open talk of + speeds on here which all respect to human rights etc, routes of BCR and talk of A406 flyover excessive speeds may give the idea of where to place speed traps along BCR or the flyover to Alperton Traffic Unit who are not too far away from this location?!

We all enjoy a run out, but some pol are on here, and other pol may browse the site, and catch us all…lol

Can we give the block a break?
I pass through there every other day and usually do it far faster than Arnie got caught at.
This is as safe as it get place to speed. 100mph would not be outrageous there if it wasn’t that much illegal.
So yes, Arnie as a tendency to ride to fast. However, this is about him getting done twice in a week for things that wouldn’t have hurt anyone, ever…

If you really wanna have a go at someone, I (allegedly) pass by the very same spot today doing just under 30 mph my bike top speed.

And if you guy don’t like it then, you know where you can stick it!

Can one of the mod close this thread before we really lose good friend over it?

Rant over

I’ve had a word with Arnie, I think he’ll be back

Oh, you’ve finished with it so we can close the thread now! Is that how it works?
