anyone understand the new c-charge pricing?

so if my pickup was reg’d in 2006, does this mean i’ll be paying £8 a day or £25 a day?

is it only pickups reg’d after march 08 that are either above the emissions level or 3L size,

or

pickups over the emissions limit. also pickups over 3L that were reg’d after march 08

also what the hell does Co2 emission have to do with easing congestion? ‘small’ cars can now go into the city for free? ken livingstone is a pr*ck

I think it’s both and for vehicles registered for older vehicles there will be a ‘Grace period’ beofre they increase any charges.

Yes indeed Ken is not a friend of pick-ups…

apparently hes changed it from becoming a congestion charge, to an emissions charge

which also then frees it up to start charging motorcyclists…

If you look on your V5 it tells you the CO2 value for your pick-up.

Mine is 204 so luckily just outside the dreaded Band G:)

yep, i know its over the emissions limit, but its not clear whether that applies only to new vehicles this year?

‘bicycle lane superhighways’? c*nt

The good news is that Ken is giving a 100% discount to the least polluting cars, which means that bikes will keep being exempt from the charge as they pollute even less than the least polluting cars!

So what size is the lump in your pick-up?

its not good news. they add almost as much congestion, which is the reason the charge was put in place in the first place.

the people who can afford cayennes and porsches will no doubt be able to afford the charge or write it off/have their company pay for it. it will have marginal impact, and there is also the irony of people who drive the vehicles penalised driving further to avoid the congestion zone, therefore burning more fuel. it will make life sodding difficult/expensive for people like me that bought a pickup for genuine reasons, as i’m moving into west london and wont be able to avoid the charge if i move the pickup

Wondering how you can be so certain of that, as I’ve tried plenty of searching but never seen any figures for bike CO2 emissions, so is there a list some place or is that guesswork ?

I’ve no doubt at all that given the chance Kenny will bring in charging for bikes & he’ll use the same pretext as he’s doing now - ie. start off with those over 600cc, hell if he needs any ammo he can just publish the recent thread on here re people getting 20 mpg out of their litre bikes !

Actually not, cos depsite the concern with emissions, bikes AREN’T emissions tested… at least not yet…

The way I read it JB, you will be ok as your truck is neither brand new nor over 3L:)

Dunno where you got that from, but according to the TFL website the cut off year is 2001 not 2008 & there’s no mention of any grace period, it applies from Oct this year.

*The key changes we will introduce include:

A 100 per cent low CO2 discount for cars that:
Produce less than 120g/km CO2 and meet the Euro 4 standard for air pollution emissions or
Produce no more than 120g/km of CO2, and appear on the PowerShift register
The introduction of a higher charge (£25) for cars and certain pickups with two rows of seats that produce high levels of CO2.Vehicles liable for this charge are:
Cars first registered with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) on or after 1 March 2001 that produce above 225g/km of CO2
Cars first registered with the DVLA before 1 March 2001 with engines greater than 3,000cc
Pickups with two rows of seats (extended-cab dual-purpose pickups) with CO2 emissions of greater than 225g/km or with engines greater than 3,000cc in size
The removal of the 90 per cent Residents’ Discount from the Congestion Charge for residents who continue to drive cars liable for the CO2 charge

The closure of the 100 per cent Alternative Fuel Discount (AFD) to new registrations, and the phasing out of the AFD by January 2010*

I wonder how many customers are asking for their deposits back on new 08 Chelsea Tractors:D

That man makes my blood boil!

was so annoyed when I heard the news yesterday, and yeah mine too is way over the limit, but luckily, I ride my bike to work, and no doubt he’ll start charging bikers too if he’s not stopped!

What are people with small businesses who have to use bigger cars suppose to do?

Pr!ck

There’s another reason bikes are not in the frame… they have no front number plate (the whole system is set up to capture front plates)… If Ken is still about when the system moves to tag and beacon (already announced) then I’m sure you’ll see bikes enter the frame. The Green lobby are only interested in seeing 2 wheelers of one type and guess what that 2 wheeler doesn’t have an engine…

When do we vote for a new mayor? :Whistling:

its also from the TFL site fella, you’re quoting the ‘car’ section which gives you up to 2010 to change or wear it.
