I nearly squealed with delight when I got home to receive this in the post, first class as well, I am flattered !!!
(FYI my bike is left warming up for between 30 seconds and a minute in the mornings during which I don my helmet and gloves) !
What are they still doing in bed at that time? Gah! Layabouts…
And you’ve done them a favour by saving them money on alarm clocks.
But yes, at least they’ve been polite about it. Perhaps if they can be helped to understand that it needs to warm up so the engine doesn’t break, they might be a bit more accommodating? If you can find out who sent the letter, that is…
my dad leave for work at 5am most morning on his ninja so he got a cheap baffle & made up a clip so he can start the bike up & ride a few streets away the remove the baffle
it does suck when you get things like this but when i leave for work i only leave it on to get my other glove on and slowly pull away due to the noise and when im home late i hit the kill switch a fair distance from my house as the road is narrow that way its one less thing for my neighbour to try and get me evicted for
I always, always, always get my lid on, put my gloves on, put my bike onto the street and straddle it before starting it, getting in gear and going. I have a vtwin which can be very noisy on the choke. Even if I had a standard can on, I’d do the same - treat others the way you wish to be treated I say.
Wish mr zx-6r (or 9r) would notice that across the road - he warms his up for about 5 minute4s, albeit on a standard can, but on full choke. ffs, riding when cold won’t destroy your engine!!
Although its a bit of a pain and slightly out of order cos I’m sure they do enough to **** you off…at least they had the balls to kinda confront you about it…ok not face to face…but they didn’t go running to the council like a baby!
I always start the bike, stick my helmet and gloves on and then go. Our next door neighbours are great and we’re m8s with em. They know most of the people in the street and no-one has a problem with the bikes. He has a Nissan 200sx with nice zorst so always leaves it running a few minutes before heading off and he works really early shifts. If it was down to either me or Dave causing grief with the bike it would be me as I usually get home about 2330hrs to 0100hrs depending on what shift I’m on.
As it happens, we had a letter from the council about a month ago stating a neighbour had complained about the dog barking. Yeah she barks a lot if someone comes to the door or is hangin about outside, but there are several other dogs in the street that bark throughout the day so the person who put the complaint in has targeted us cos we’re new and rent the house.
This is one of the reasons I haven’t got loud cans on my SV - I often have to leave at 5.30/6.00 in the morning and sometimes get back at 1 or two in the morning. Loud pipes at these times of day are a bit anti-social. Usuallly I like to let the bike run for at least thirty seconds after starting - but if I’m starting extra early i’ll switch on and move off taking care to keep the revs below two grand until the temp goes up. That way I keep everyone sweet.
Pmsl at westies comment:D He’s jealous of your bike lol
to be fair to your neighbours pays off in the long run mate…why not surprise them all and have a barbie then go knock on their doors and invite them…you never know they may just surprise you and turn up and be really nice people:D
