Anyone see GMTV this morning? They were discussing noise complaints from neighbours and Andrew Castle piped up complaining about traffic noise, in particular bikes. He said a guy near him ‘put a loud exhaust on his bike to make himself feel better’ and it was very noisy. I’m sure the guy had reasons other than just making himself feel better, maybe to make the bike look better, go faster, sound cooler, or possibly to p**s off that silly sod Andrew Castle? That would make anyone feel better wouldn’t it?
Loud pipes save lives :DHad mine cut down a bit to make it a bit louder, not to make me feel better but to make the muppets on my commute to work hear me when they decide to try and change lanes on me!!
If one person heard me and decided not to pull out/change lane then it was worth every penny.
I absolutely agree with this and Tiggi’s loud pipes save lives! It was proven this morning that no one hears me coming on my squeaky-whisper of a standard exhaust. I can’t wait to change my can and stop the morons from pulling out on me. Grrrrrr 
When I had the Fireblade with standard exhausts people simply walked out in front of me oblivious to my presence . . . now I have twin Termi’s on the Veloce one rev can clear a street!

Despite such a blanket statement as ’ to make himself feel better ', which you can expect from someone who doesn’t understand, I would say that the increased presence/ safety aspect, look and possible performance gains do make the biker ’ feel better about him/ herself ’ - why shouldn’t they? Don’t you buy a car with extra safety features and perhaps some tarty bits ’ *to make * your self feel better '?
How about some alloys? (don’t know if you get airbags with this one though)
I can see nothing wrong with that Mr Castle (who :unsure: ) - if it makes the road a safer place for both of us, for the reasons already stated, then who can fault it?

Well, whilst they’re being educated, I prefer to stay alive! 
I have noticed a real difference since I’ve had the Tuono with Arrow cans on it. If I cruise up behind a car they practically drive up the verge to allow me past. I also don’t need to use my horn to warn pedestrians of my presence, a quick blip of the throttle is enough to have them jump out of their skins! So, not only are they safer but also a great source of amusement for me.
Whoever said that plod were always right eh? I can vouch that noisy cans most def DO make a massive difference

I had a baffle-less Akrapovic on my CBF and that didn’t stop a pedestrian running straight out in front of me and getting hit square on. Why? Headphones. Music-on-the-move is a plague for many reasons, and this is just one of them. Don’t get me wrong, I do think that loud cans do save lives (I’ve got a baffleless Arrow on one bike and a straight through Freeflow on the other), but loud cans aren’t the be all and the end all. Defensive riding is key.As an aside, what from our point of view is a safety element is something that probably just doesn’t occur to people that don’t ride bikes. I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t have occurred to me before I started biking. Muppets with loud cans that rev the nuts off their bikes at every given opportunity probably also don’t help the cause… :rolleyes:
I figured that much out, but still none the wiser, and I can’t be bother to google twat, there’d be to many pages of Bliar, Brown, Smith, and Snow to wade through.
