Thanks been waiting for this
I’m a Garmin enthusiast but that is a really good deal.
Thanks for the heads up on this.
One ordered.
Who is a henLB member that is really hot on satnavs? I’d like to ask for his opinion on this model.
Joby is the local Garmin advocate…
If I had a new bike I’d be jumping at that… But as mine is already set up for the zumo 660and I have all the mounts plugged in and wired, can’t justify it.
It’s not the current model from TomTom, that’s the 450 - http://amzn.to/2IF6AHB
Looks like they’ve got a new one being released soon, Rider 550 - https://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/sat-nav/tomtom-rider/
Which has WiFi built-in to enable map updates without needing a computer.
What is the difference between the 420 and 450?
I thought it was just that the 420 only came with European maps and the 450 had World maps plus some pre-planned scenic trips built-in.
oh I’m soooo tempted!
Anyone know if it could be used int he car as well or is the fixture different for powering etc?

These devices have been crying out for that function for years now.

AcemanI'm more clued up with Garmins but I know people who have had positive experiences with Tomtom Riders. As to which is better it always seems to come down to personal preference and what you get on with. I've had my Zumo 590LM for more than 3 years so there should be a replacement for that soon. Hopefully with a fancier screen and Wifi connectivity.
I’ve used my old Rider Pro in the car. It just needed a suction mount and plugging into the cigarette socket for power.

The 420 is good bought one last year and love it, especially recording TF’s Chipping Norton route but it can do many things besides - windy routes etc.
One problem is the Bluetooth connection, if you want directions, traffic and listen to music, the voice for direction is annoyingly hoarse. TomTom have tried to fix this for two years but failed. I have found connecting headset and then the phone (or is it the other way round) helps but it is hit and miss getting the right Bluetooth channel. So if you don’t want live radio or music via phone, you’re on to a winner at this price. If you do it is a compromise. I have never understood why the SatNav cannot do music direct as it has the connectivity.
Well I broke! I just bought one…
My Bluetooth headset actually lets me have 2 connections at a time so I can listen to tunage on the phone and directions on new sparkly sat nav
I will now have a tomtom start 25 going surplus if anyone is interested?
Should have got a map mate. About £200 cheaper
I'm interested. Will message you.
