I bought my K5 from them, but I have to say, I wasn’t the most impressed. They don’t seem to want to sell bikes, you have to try very hard to get their attention, and then they don’t engage you at all, it’s just “yeah, okay, card please”. What way is that to treat someone who wants to spend £9k with you??
Then when I took the bike in for its first service I told them the clutch was jerking when you pulled away hard from stand-still. They said they would look at it, and when I got it back, they didn’t mention it, I asked and they said “oh, yeah, someone looked at it but didn’t notice anything” and that was that! So he basically implied I was making it up or lying! I will never go back there, I want a relationship with my dealer, I spend a lot of money on bikes, I deserve more respect!
Sorry, rant over, but it really winds me up the state of bike sales in this country, it’s appauling. I had a good experience with Daytona in Pentonvile when I bought a K4 750 a couple of years ago, but they have closed now, and they never once contacted me after to see how I was, so sod them, lol.
It seems you are the privledged one if you can buy a bike here!
Not nice when a couple of people just ruin your experience. It is amazing how much damage people like that do to a business.
Know what you mean about a relationship. Just had the Duke serviced at Daytona (King’s Cross) and then shot the proverbial with the mechanic who performed the service for about half an hour.
He even offered to get a couple of bikes I wanted to try over from the other shop. Top bloke!
And I really liked Tony from Bobo’s who is servicing my scoot. Really nice chap with a huge dog
Ah yeah, I forgot about that, he (Tony) told me you popped in with your 'ped. Tony’s a good guy, he’ll always give you the time of day and be frank with his work.
personally, I can’t stand them – not saying they won’t give a decent service, just have never been impressed with their approach / attitude. I spoke to one of their sales team regarding the new R6’s lack of a 17.5k redline ( after reasearching it quite a bit on the net finding Yam USA offering full money back offer for those not happer ) - and was treated with distain as to how I could mention it!!
I go there only for 2 reasons.
Its deals Triumphs — ( I mean just check out the shabby way they displayye the new 675 - fucking criminal )
It’s close and I’m lazy,
Also their secondhand bikes seem a tad overpriced in my opinion.
After a phone call yesterday, they told me they had what i was lokking for… A CBR600f in black (first bike so dont rip me…he he!) Anyway, it was an 04 with 10k on the clock/ 1 owner & he said he wanted 4400 so i went down to have a look & see what sort of deal he could do…
got down there with cash in hand & he wouldnt budge on the price…he said he already dropped it by 400. then i said " throw in a cheapish lid, a lock, 12months tax/mot & you can have the cash now"
NO JOY! he wouldnt even throw in a cheap lid.
Took the train home…even though i really really wanted it.
did i push it or do you think i was being resonable? & is it a good price for what it is? never bought anything from a dealer b4.
your right about the service…the 5yo kid i was dealing with coulnt be bothered if i bought it or not.
Alex
the gsxr6 looked nice…feel a change of mind coming on.
its the bike ive stated in the above post. if your ever passing metrpolis have a look…then if you let me know what you think…
Better still, depending on what sort of advice i get here & if i decide to go back, why dont you come down if youve got time… there be a nice drink in it for ya…
Kempo, you did the right thing, you’re a willing customer, and they wouldn’t engage you. It’s their loss, but unfortunately yours as well. All good dealers state the going rate, then allow you to negotiate, depending on how badly they need to sell the bike, and how desperate you are, hehe.
Funny, I thought selling a bike was better than not selling it, regardless of whether their profit margin gets a little smaller or not. I’ll be quiet now, but buying a bike in the UK sucks in my experience, it completely destroys the fun you’re having when expecting a new bike.
I bet they don’t treat you like that in a BMW dealership.
But did i do the right thing??? ive been searching the internet & cant really find one that beats the price, well not an 04 model anyway… the only reason i walked off (even though i was willing to buy) was the young guys attitude. obviously he thinks (or knows) he can sell it for the price he wants without any negotiation. i was really looking forward to buying my first bike, your right about taking the fun out it.
im thinking about ringing back as a new customer & speaking to his boss ( the sales manager) & see what he says, what d’ya reckon?
anyway, take a look & see what you think…its one of the 3 outside with 10k on the clock.
cheers
Alex
PS i am desperate…had to get on the bloody train today in rush hour
It’s your money mate, not mine! Buying a bike is an exciting experience and one to be enjoyed, but don’t get carried away and end up with a bum-deal! There’ll be another bike out there, maybe not now, but in the future. Are you looking in BikeMart, MCN and eBay?
I know its not round the corner, but the place i now go and my ex went and the bloke he brought his blade from always went to Firstline Motorcycles in Arnos Grove and i have heard other people mention them with praise also…
If its old parts you want…(got bits for my Honda H100SD there)
If its used bikes…(ex brought and had his blade serviced there)
If its new bikes…I brought my CBR125 there, and being female and trying a few places where they always assume my male friend was the purchaser and no one would budge on price i took a trip up to firstline and was signing on the dotted line about half hour after getting there… Have always dealt with Roy there, and even when i was just a pillion i have always found them friendly and helpful and fair on price… and i dont think when it comes to my next bike (possibly a CBR600F as well as i love them) that i will go anywhere else…
actually i saw a silver cbr600f with 1,700 miles on sat morn. one owner, etc… at chiswick honda for £5000 i think… but at that price and with the 0% finance they have on the new bikes - i figured not really worth it…
When I looked at buying my DRZ last year I shopped around a lot. Cheapest bike was from Daytona but thought I would go to Metropolis as bigger, more facilities etc. Asked if they could match Daytonas price and they almost chucked me out, really not interested in my handful of £50 notes. Went to Daytona and have had first class service from them. Mate bought a scoot from Metropolice and their aftersales is shite! She had a problem with bike stalling at lights, although under warrenty they were really not interested.
