Someone emailed me about this, but the response bounced back…
I’m not sure which route I’ll be taking into London yet, as I may have to collect someone in the Tonbridge area on the way up. I will definitely be doing it tho, as wrapped pressies are already starting to appear on my desk - I collect them at work as we are near to St Thomas’ (and people seem to like the opportunity to go looking at toys - bunch of big kids!).
The idea is that you get a toy for the kids, wrap it up and mark it with the age and sex of the child it would be most suitable for. There are kids of all ages in hospital at xmas, so you can get almost anything. Ride to the Ace for a cuppa and to get warm. Put your pressie in the van with the others and then we ride en masse to the hospitals. Sometimes the kids come out (St Thomas’ last year) but a representative (usually accompanied by Pudsey) takes the pressies in, rather than everyone (there are quite a few bikers…)
You can come in fancy dress if you like, or make your bike look festive with some tinsel type bling, or both The ride is fairly easy going and for obvious reasons, quite slow, but it’s a great way to ride around London and make a few smile.
Once I know if I’m collecting my friends hubby who has just got himself a 125 scooter I’ll let you know if a detour via Petts Wood is on the cards.
