Szymon reminded me that this Sunday is the second anniversary of Martin’s death. Last year we had a very well supported memorial ride, but I am concious that we never did get to Goodwood as intended.
I propose a meat at Rykas, leaving at 10.30 for a ride cross-country to the Departure Lounge for coffee and fooling around on the slide in the garden if that takjes your fancy, followed by a ride to Goodwood for a late lunch.
Journey back on back roads passing the accident site.
RIP Pilot. Regards to all family and friends. Will take a ride tomorrow and take a moment to shread for those we’ve lost in tragic motorcycling circumstances. x
Now at the Ace, waiting for Art (and anyone else if they turn up). Weather isn’t bad, slight drizzle when I left home has now cleared up. Was a horrible storm earlier, had a bit of adventure getting bread and milk in the morning, but looking to be a good day now
Art. Geoff, Szymon and I set off from a sunny Sunday morning to the site for some brief reflection, then rode a revised route, due to the state of the roads after the overnight storm, to the Departure Lounge with only a few light showers.
During our burger free lunch I got call lto say I needed to go help my elderly parents deal with a minor crisis, and Szymon needed to get back also. Left Art and Geoff to discuss which ford to go and play with, but by this time it was raining heavily. Szymon and I rode to the A30 at Old Basing going through several flooded roads. At one point standing water was splashing over the tops of my thighs, so we got to play with our own fords!
The weather deteriorated. At the Suningdale level crossing the rain was so heavy visibility was about 30 yards. By the time I got to my parents in Hampton the rain had stopped. Glad to say all my gear kept me very dry.
Assuming Art and Geoff headed north for the legendary ford with the submerged post, Goodwood will have to wait until next year!
