Thanks Julian for posting… twas a gentle mornings ride, with time to reflect on memories of our lost mate and then a not so healthy lunch option, well for some, eaten in good company…
After lunch, as a precursor for Arts TOWiE ride next week, I took him to the now infamous unconquered ford near Eversley…
and well, after much surveying and cogitating, I have to report sadly that it is still remains unconquered by any LBer as even Art, LB’s leading ford transverser, bottled it as well! :P:D
The depth gauge at the corner, 4th picture, indicated a depth of 6", the one at the centre of the bridge here indicates just over 2’, the actual depth looked to be more than that. Check out the turbulence mid stream too, it had been raining heavy, what you can’t see is the algae formed across the concrete base making it very slippery.
On another day, having checked the Bonne’s air intake level. Armed with a pair of wellies to check the correct depth, studded foot wear to deal with the algae covered base and a hank of rope and enough bods to work it in case it all goes tits up, I’ll give it a go, if not on the Bonne on Geoffs BM :w00t:
Interesting video Nivag, the depth gauge indicates just over three foot rising to four foot with the bow wave, on the day the gauge indicated just two feet but it looked more.
Thanks for the 4x4 offer Martin, I’ll decline in favour of the tried and tested studded wellies and wade across method
