Yoshimura RS5 V's Two Brothers M5 for Daytona 675

Over the past months I have seen so many YouTube videos of the Yosh and TBR’s (Both Carbon) with such variation, in terms of sound and opinion, I’m now thoroughly confused.

By writing this detailed account of my findings, I hope to provoke some genuine responses from people who have had direct experience with these two pipes (and bike), as oppose to spending most of my nightime hours hunting down evidence on Youtube (like the sad obsessed tw@t I’ve come to be)
Sorry - I digress, I’ve become passionate about this subject…

Two Bro’s M5 Carbon
**Appearance: **
Looks good seen some pics or ‘Arnies’ 675 on the forum, (sorry Arnie hope you dont mind me sharing this) : www.my675.com
Sound:
Sounds loud, just what we’re after, deep and throaty, is it too loud? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=D_tD20AAWYg&feature=related
Cost:
Relatively cheap in comparison to other pipes available on the market for the 675. (£380 approx)
Performance:
Small performance increase (+5HP Max / Removable baffle ‘sound tip’)
Legality:
Questionable. Number plate re-positioning bit iffy.
**Build quality: **
Nobody seems to have had one long enough to comment on this subject…
**Remapping: **
Two Bro’s Web says no remap needed… I’d question that, and get it done anyway to ensure performance.

** TBR’s Summary:**
Looks different in that it has a very wide opening, very tail tidy, sounds deep, relatively cheap, not much feedback from those in the UK with this pipe. Questionable build quality and performance increase.

The Yoshi RS-5:
Appearance:
Looks freaking sweet… Tri Oval can, looks better quality than the TBR’s, although the Supplied brackets look tacky. Not such a large outlet as the TBR’s, but more of a ‘refined’ look
Sound:
Very distinct sound… but sounds different in each vid…
Vid#1 - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=e3tDIl5tC84 (Sh1te vid, but sounds freakin mental!!)
Vid#2 - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=u-3ZqIbj9JM (Fellah claims it doesn’t emit a ‘normal’ Yosh high pitch sound, but a more deeper tone due to the 3 Cylinder)
No hardcore ‘exhaust note’ evidence… E.g. the Yosh on the CBR600RR sounds pants, yet in the above vid’s it sounds pretty good. (Cant tell whether baffles in or out)
Cost:
Little bit more than the TBR’s (£440 approx)
Performance:
Small performance increase (+5HP Max / Removable baffle)
Legality:
Comes with Fender brackets enabling the use of stock fender, (Would be replaced with 675 fender eliminator kit that will bolt onto the Yoshi supplied brackets) This is a ‘purpose built’ race pipe, possible issues there…
Build quality:
+50 Years of ‘Race heritage’ and build experience for the track, appearance seems better quality, suits the 675 profile too
Remapping:
Remap is advised. Not surprising as this pipe is primarily made for the track and not road use…

Yosh Summary:
Very little known about the Yosh pipe on the 675 in the UK…Looks better than TBR’s, possibly better build quality, bit more costly, undefined exhaust note due to poor vids and unknown baffle element in Vids, it has race Heritage.

OK - It’s a lot to take in… You see what I’ve been contending with in my head eh?! This is why I need YOUR help!

I’ll be honest, I’m swaying towards the Yoshi, it has a contemporary shape, I have a black 675, and comes with ‘legal’ fender brackets and I think with the unique 675 triple engine, baffles removed, it’ll sound sweet, loud, but not toooo loud.

My fellow bikers, please help me out before I really lose the plot eh?

Cheers

Neither - Arrow is probably the best system for the T675 - developed specially for it.

Thanks for reading my post PPGirl

I’ve heard the Arrow, and it sounds pants in comparison to some other makes… plus it looks like every other standard pipe… I’m one who likes to deviate from the madding crowd and be different!

The Yoshi is also a specially made race option for the 675 too. The Arrow is a more common after market option as Triumph obviously struck a deal with Arrow prior to the release of the 675 back in 06. On that basis, they have to ‘promote’ the Arrow can / system. Personally, I think Arrow could have a done a bit more R&D and come up with a more aesthetically pleasing pipe that compliments the profile of the 675 a bit more…

Again - I rattle on…

No worries - I was going on performance on our dyno. If you want something a little more different and good on noise and don’t care as much about performance, you could try a Zard http://www.speedycom.co.uk/shop/product.php?productid=17449&cat=537&page=1, Ajko might be something to look at too: http://www.speedycom.co.uk/shop/home.php?cat=597.

I just prefer Termi and Akra to 2B and Yoshis for performance  Here’s another website for you to check out: http://www.trickworks.com/bikes/shop/products.php?g1=8af992.

Sell the 675 and buy a 2007/8 ZX6R then you can get the best looking system on the market, the Akro carbon/titanium system . . . just bootiful ;)

Not sure about the Zard… dont like the GP style, I’m comfortable with the pipe under the seat… and if I’m to go with with the Zard under seat, I prefer the Yoshi for aesthetics…

I like the Termi’s!! Bit beyond my price range though… If I had spare £KK’s I’d purchase and have you custom fit for me

My budget is about £500…

Thanks for the links though, never heard of the Ajko!!

If you hear of any Termi’s going for around 500 that you could custom fit to my 675 and tune it up, I’d be interested!

A

I found a Termi on 675 vid… http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=0ezioiwu2Z4 dunno if it’s just the cam, but I’m of the opinion that it sounded like a tractor… I’m still leaning on the raspyness of the Yoshi!

To all who maybe following this trail of Yoshimura RS-5 Carbon and Two Brothers M5 Carbon for the Daytona 675… Buy a Fakin Yoshi. If you’re reading this and have been scratching your head for ages… do it, you wont be sorry. I promise!

I bought the Yoshi. It is freaking sick I tell ya!!! I’m so glad I bought it over the TBR, the quality, look and sound of the Yoshi RS-5 Carbon is unmatched by the TBR M5 Carbon. The Yoshi is in a league of its own!
I visited the Ace a couple of weeks ago and came across a fella with a TBR… I didn’t like it and it looked shabby. It sounded like a loose fart… mind you, it was on a ZX6R that might have had something to do with it!

Anyway, bottom line, I got the Yoshi, well happy. No re-map (yet) dont reckon it needs it… all the existing flat spots that were evident with the stock pipe seem to have vanished :w00t:, definate noticeable gains in power!

It Sounds very raspy, not like your usual high pitched tone you get with other bikes like the CBR600RR, and not too offensive when sat idle in traffic… but as soon as you take off, the race heritage sound is all to evident.

Love it - Well done me for making the right choice!

You’re comparing different types of engine, of course they’re going to sound different? (imagine a monster 600 with a harris system sitting next to a zx6 with a micron slip on - both of similar engine size, but you can’t compare??)

Arnie’s got a TB exhaust system on a triple 675, you should sit side by side for a general comparison - but then there’s a whole load of other factors - engine condition/age, mapping etc…

As long as you’re happy, that’s the main thing
