Yamaha YBR 125CC - is it restricted ?

hi guys
l got myself yamaha ybr 125 cc (custom)
its 2012.

on my recent trip l was really testing the speed but
the most l can squeeze out of it is 55mph (lm a girl, light one  5.7) going down the hill

l was riding with other 125cc (virago) and couldnt catch up sometimes.

is my yamaha restricted?
where can l get that checked and removed?

Thanks a lot

They aren’t restricted as such (at least not in the same way that 2 strokes are). The reality is YBRs just aren’t quick, although it does sound like you have got a particularly slow one…

crap !

LOL. The thing is no 125 is particularly quick (not four strokes anyway) and when you decided on a YBR custom you were making a bit of a style choice (rather than performance). If you eventually go on to other ā€œcustomā€ style bikes you will find they aren’t generally very quick, but that doesn’t seem to bother people who want them. Just get used to your mini ā€œHardly Davidsonā€ and learn to look cool at 50mph. It will be useful experience if you ever buy a real HD.

Has it ever been serviced? I’d be looking at plugs/air filter/oil etc, and then give up and realise it’s a 125

My Suzuki Slingshot 125 does around 60mph downhill, so yh, pretty standard.

My YBR does 68 at a push (no wind, all tucked in). They just aren’t really fast.

Same here, if we’re going by speedo numbers.
I like my YBR

Struth

I thought all 125’s would hit 70, my CG125 going downhill into the Hindhead Tunnel the M3 with a short fat bald 90Kg pilot topped an indicated 80 mph

My NSR 125 got upto 75/80mph that’s two strokes for you.
Oh and it was restricted!

The good old days of blue smoke.

The 125 4 stroke bikes seem to get a bit faster with age and serious ragging . Case in point … 2 CG125 bikes bought roughly at the same time … One was owned by a Billy ,one was owned by a Barry … Billy had a car too ,Barry had only the bike …They both bought their fuel from Bobs garage and had them bikes serviced by either me or John doon at the coachworks … Barry put big miles on in no time and ragged the **** out of it everywhere and generally behaved like the ginger idiot he was . Billy was slower to put on miles due to using it only now and then if it was sunny and rode with a more mature and careful head cos he was older and also fatter and a bit of a self confessed coward … 12 months down the line and Barrys CG125 was much quicker than Billys .

Im applying the same logic to my Honda.

So has my 80+ mph down hill with tail wind and over weight pilot CG125 been seriously ragged :ermm:

haha thanks guys  l love my bike ans lm not a speed junkie at all (hence custom style) but it was just a bit annoying on a ride out

isn’t the virago a twin not a single?
