The number 43 MV Agusta ridden by Howie Mainwarring romped home to a very impressive win in the Metzeler National Superstock Championship at Oulton Park today. His team mate Martin Buckles finished an impressive twelfth.
Howie fourth on the grid after the race was restarted due to rain, was leading by the end of the second lap and immediately started to pull away from the chasing pack and finished 2 seconds ahead of the second placed R1 ridden by Glenn Richards.
What makes this victory even more impressive is the ability of the X-bikes team to provide a bike capable of winning a race on a shoestring budget. Hopefully the win and the exposure for the team will help to convince some much needed sponsors to become involved.
More info can be found on the team at http://www.xbikes.cc/
Congrats to the team…
Hmmm wonder what’s minimum amount needed from a sponsor? Maybe get “londonbikers.com” emblazoned on the bike somehow?
I saw the second half of the race on ITV4 and loved it, Howie put in a great performance and deserved the win. It’s nice to see other bikes at the sharp end other than the defacto gixxers and r1’s!
PaulNagle, are the team sending out press-releases yet? If they are, they should be sending them to the LB news team. news [at] londonbikers.com.
Must say i was very impressed. I saw Howie and Martin racing at an EMRA meeting i was at earlier in the year only beaten by bsb cup rider Malc Ashley and the bikes looked real good.
Also used to race supermoto against the xbikes ktm’s - good to see them road racing.
This just in from Team X-Bikes: Great, huh?

Congrats. Is this the team that VinnieMV is sponsering/associated with?
hi,
i’m chris and X-bikes is my company, thanks for the well wishes folks, very much appreciated.
sponsorship of any level is greatly received so if anyone is serious then please feel free to email me at chris(at)xbikes.cc
to clarify, vinnie is nothing to do with this team anymore and as long as i am involved in things never will be. the plus points of vinnies involvement were vastly outweighed by the negative points and i would rather not expand any further than that.
this team is run solely by X-bikes with help from some very good friends who i can trust and who don’t mess me around.
press releases and stuff will become a regular feature that i will be sending out after every race so if the london bikers admins don’t mind i’ll send them copies, in return i’ll run a london bikers sticker on the bike
…can’t say fairer than that
cheers
chris
Hey Chris… I’m looking forward to getting the press releases and putting the LB stickers on the bikes… Thanks for that fella…
PM sent.
no probs, after being messed around so much exposure is the name of the game right now.
being as i grew up in london and my first shop was only a few miles from the ace it’s kind of fitting that i do something with london bikers
sometimes i miss london, but if i hadn’t have moved i wouldn’t be racing MV’s and being the first team to take a british podium in years…hmmmmmmmmm nights out in london…winning races…nights out in london…winning races…tough choice really, not sure which wins

cheers for the help, oh no PM yet btw
Reading on from my last post here… GREAT NEWS!
Fitting how the MV’s colourscheme matches the new branding to a ‘t’ eh?
All the very best Chris, hopefully catch a race soon…
Rich
Great result Chris all the best to you and team
Nice one m8
More photos from the last two rounds of BSB have been published, and I found this one of Howie Mainwarring giving it some berries:
