Worse day off my life

well yesterday started off with me going into work in the morning then being told to go home at 11, missing the hastings run :frowning:

I then go in the garage in the afternoon to find my nsr petrol tank laying on the floor upside down with petrol p*ssing out, ruining the paint job!

so you could image i was seriously p*ssed off! I then decide to go for a ride on my own to cheer myself up.

Hammering down the north circular along side of a lambagini, im like ‘yeah this is more like it’
Until all of sudden i lose a heck lot of power. realise she is only running on 3. sh*t.

Call Matt to see where he is to have a look at it and thankfully his free, so go round to his, which is 20 miles running on 3, not good!
Had to ride it back to mine because i had spare plugs in my garage, take out the damaged one to find that the bottom of it had snapped off!! no one has ever heard of that happeneing and im still really baffled as to how the bottom of a brand new spark plug can just all of a sudden snap off!!

so we try to clean the oil out with break cleaner and put another new plug in, fire her up and still running on 3, we try this about 6 times but it just keeps soaking the plug.
so we ride to matt’s work and get a compression tester, go back to mine and test her. Opppsss, no compression what so ever from number one.

Not good at all! this means the bit that snapped off has dropped down and damaged the cylinders, pistons etc. We’re thinking that it may have even put a hole in the piston.

So i have to get a whole new engine! AND because my bike is rare, its going to be hard to get hold of one, then get the old one out and put new one in. Matt is doing it in his spare time, and he hasnt got much of that so I’M BIKELESS FOR AT LEAST A WHOLE MONTH!!!

as you can image, being a full time biker, this is seriously kill me! >:( :frowning: :frowning:

right, rant over!

What the hell!?!

Never heard of a spark plug breaking like that. That is a serious downer! Hopefully you’ll have it running again soon.

What bike have you got?

I HAVE NEVER HEAR OF THAT HAPPEN.

HOPE YOU FIND A NEW ENGINE SOON

hornet 250

Awwwww luvvie thats damn bad luck…try west coast motorcycles they often have hornet 250 stuff kicking about and you never know they might have or know of someone who has an engine worth a try.

as i mentioned on cbc babes, still think its worth a try having a go at spark plug manufacturer. If they caused damage when they were installed correctly, then its them should foot the bill

arrgh, public transport sux
hope you manage to sort this out quickly; must be very frustrating

I feel your pain… I hope you get it all sorted soon

Sorry to hear this Stacy, two bikes and both out of action :w00t:

Have you tried http://www.ridersmotorcycles.co.uk/ for an engine or parts ?

Awww Mate thats pants:angry:It might be worth Matt just whipping the head off as you might be lucky and its just got mashed in an exhaust valve. That would give you a nil compression test as well.

If it is, the valve seat can easily be welded and recut…fingers crossed:cool:

Didn’t you have a VFR as well Stace?

I can’t help with anything technical but wanted to add my sympathy to your post.

That is an absolute nightmare of epic proportions. I hope you get it sorted quickly (and cheaply)!

You looked mighty pi$$ed off when i saw you last night, give me a shout if you need a hand as i’m quite handy with a spanner;)

No R1cky, you are a spanner, stop getting mixed up :stuck_out_tongue:

On a serious note though, hope you get your bike sorted soon

roflmao!!Gutted for you Stace - hope you’re back on the road soon. It’s strange seeing you as a pillion.

stace i feel ur pain i is having mechanical trouble with me mop-head

heading from the ace to the square along the a40 flatout trying to keep up wid all the cbc boys the thing just died. stood there trying to start it for a minute or so and it fired bk into life but with alot less power. i`m gutted as i have to put the gixer bk on the road witch is not wat i wanted to do

That’s tough - I can empathise after my shite w/e. Good luck in getting in sorted - not a good time to be without the bike.

thanks people, its hard waking up and not getting on the bike :frowning: :frowning:

That would kill me if it happened to my bike, esp as the weather is looking sick this week. Not much I can say to make you feel better, but I hope an engine comes up soon.

Fingers crossed someone writes off a 250 Hornet sometime soon! :w00t:

I have seen it happen before on a CBR600 not quite a new plug so I would dig deeper and see what might have done it, still I feel your pain my storm has been written off last week…

Sorry to hear this Stace :frowning: hope you get it sorted soon babes
