Looks like a cut away drawing from a Haynes manual. Sad thing is it probably would have been fine inside a proper boot. Poor person.
I think the surgeons call that ‘degloving’.
ouch
Grim.
I did a 100m journey on my bike from the bottom of the street to the top the other day, to get my bike in the front garden.
I did it in a pair of Doc Martens 10 hole boots.
What struck me, even in that short distance, was how lacking in ankle protection they were- didn’t feel safe at all, although the gear shift was definitely more responsive.
There is no way I’d do a proper journey in them.
Seems this before, grim and although it is true it isn’t the result of a motorcycle accident, the poor mans foot was degloved by a forklift truck!!
Wow he must have had a bit of a tumble
Excuse the ignorance but how did he survive? Blood loss doesn’t happen in the feet!?
That should t cut out
Anyone a here woodworker or metalworker?
It is pretty nasty.

I’ve been using Alpinestars Fastback boots for the last few months. They’re comfortable but they’re not high enough to fixate my foot around the ankle. A bit scared that they wouldn’t protect me too well if something was to happen (knock on wood).
Been thinking more often about getting something decent especially after seeing pictures like this (even if what Tiggi is saying is true).
Can anyone suggest some good boots that would also be waterproof? I was looking at S-MX 5 from Alpinestar as they seem to be getting good reviews but maybe there’s something better I’ve missed.
I have some Dainese Fulcrum Goretex boots.
Very comfortable, good ankle protection, utterly waterproof- I’ve had them out during the floods.
Have a look here though- you’ll find loads of waterproof boots: http://www.infinitymotorcycles.com/store/mens-motorcycle-clothing/boots/waterproof-boots/,272
Seeing these, I’m thinking about getting something different as well… a Moped!
A moped would be worse, you ride them in flip flops.
I’ve watched my foot get driven over once. Foot was on its side rather than upright, so lots of opportunity for a rotational ankle break, or crush injuries. I was wearing a set of Alpinestar SMXs which my mate laughed at when I bought them for use with my CG125.
The only reason I know that my foot got run over was because I was watching it at the time. I was quite lucky that it was only my foot. Dismounting is painful. Getting properly run over more so.
jesus…
ouch! reminds me of seeing pics of people who have put their bike in first gear on a paddock stand to clean the chain…

Not cheap but on my second pair as they are comfy, solid, waterproof, have lightly crashed tested them, not too sweaty in summer. Wouldn’t bother trying anything else if they still make them when I need anew pair.
Have commuted in them for two years and still going strong.
