ANSWER… 4 PEOPLE TO SEE U COMING…THAT SAYS IT ALL…
IF YOU RIDE A BIKE AND SOMETIMES YOU DRIVE… WHAT DO U AUTOMATICALLY DO?
MOVE OVER TO MAKE WAY 4 THE BIKER…
BUT PEOPLE WHO ONLY DRIVE CARS 4 GET BIKERS ARE ON THE ROAD. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A PERSON GETS TAKEN OUT?U GET… SORRY I DIDNT SEE HIM …THATS ALL YOURL GET HE OR SHE HAS THERE LIFE STILL WAT ABOUT U?
Scary thought, though, is that I read an article recently which was suggesting that the Government / Eurocrats (probably the Eurocrats, actually) are giving serious consideraton to legislating that all CARS must be manufactured with the same type of headlight system that Volvos already use (and now that some bike manufacturers are using, such as on my GSXR 750), which is that the lights are always on.
I say scary thought, because if that happens, there is the potential for every new vehicle on the road to always have its lights on, making us virtually indistinguishable (at distances, at least) from cars. The result of that? Car drivers will become used to see almost every other vehicle on the road having its lights on, and will start to make fewer allowances for bikers.
Have you seen very new, quite top of the range Audis with rows of white LEDs on in the Daylight. I think it will be more something like that introduced if anything, very different from a bike headlight (for one thing they’re lower down)
I think a lot of bikers leave them on as it will back them up in the case of an accident and claims etc! Mine always stay on, apart from at night when I turn them off!
Mine come on automatically, they dont turn off when the bike is running. Doesnt help though, still get driven into and pedestrians still walk out in front of me. Hey Ho
There is only one very slight downside to this, and that is if you have your lights on and it is a sunny day, and as you are approaching, say a car turning infront of you, and you hit a bump, and the headlight ‘flashes’ at the car. Car then takes it as a signal to move, and then do…screech, plop, crunch…
But this is only a slight risk, and it totally outweighed by the benefits of being seen in other situations, I ride with them on all the time.
Just means that you shouldnt flash people to let them turn in front of you (I indicate with my head…), and if you are on a bumpy road coming up to that situation, slow down a bit cos they could move suddenly infront of you!
It also looks as though you are flashing your lights if you use your brakes and the forks dive. Lights or no lights, be prepared for none of those fvckers seeing you!
I thought that following extensive research the plan to make cars use daytime headlights had been dropped precisiely because it had little advantage regarding cars but endangered other road users such as pedestrians, cyclsits and motorcyclists.
Things are different in reduced visibility, which is why many countries require headlights in the rain, or where conditions are very different, suuch as Scandinavia where daylight headlights is common but the days are much shorter and twilight lasts forever.
riding with headlights on isnt always a good idea.It makes people feel more visible which makes them feel safer.which isnt always the case.Headlights on makes it more difficult to judge you speed.Misconstured signal as already mentioned.
Far better to ride deffensively and stay alert. If as mentioned car drivers arent looking foir bikes, then they wont see the headlight on either.
I ride with lights cos I’m actually blind. But don’t tell the DVLA
I figure ANYTHING bright will get the IDIOT’S attention. Being a whingy old woman I drive slow enough to react to the moron who is likely to pull out. Funnily enough I’ve found its the best way to avoid crashes. If someone even pulls up to a junction, let alone starts rolling out like most London cagers do, I’m already hand over the brake in case and throttle down… Sure it means I’m not a hard brave nutter like the rest of you mad goons :), but hey, haven’t spilled yet…
