why can't you quote?

seriously, since the forum got upgraded, I’ve seen so many people write underneath or within the previous message.

is it so hard to write your reply outside the quote tags?

It’s not the fault of the person quoting but the system. There seems to be a bug, as it has happened to me, where the entire post is quoted.

yea it makes it hard to distinguish where some people have quited others:crazy:

takes extra time to read. I’m sure it will be fixed in due time

i find tping above the quotes helps as well

like so

GAY! (oh it does work! )

so would that be the persons fault that the cursor is placed in that location or the coding ?

(cursor placed here ) so why should it be up to user to move it …

and generally if replying to a quote would it not be best to have the information your replying to before your reply … or do you generally answer a question before being asked it ?

Q. what is 65-5+54/8*5+47-4.25-54+9-30

It’s a bug that I’ve been able to replicate repeatedly in Firefox on Mac and Linux. It only seems to happen with a number of quote levels, not just one. Quote the response, type OUTSIDE the quote area and hit preview - your text ends up inside the quote. No matter how many times you preview, this stays.

Select the entire quoted area, remove it from the post, and you see just your new text unquoted when you preview. Now past the quoted content back in and preview shows the message as you wanted it. You can then post.

But I understand why people get caught out - it’s not really fair to blame them for shoddy software.

**** me thats sooooooooo easy …

nice simple site this

I’m quite careful about quotes and things and still find my replies getting inside the quote - even after editing etc. Not tried to trace it down to O/S or browser … just been a bit annoying.

:laugh::laugh::laugh:
thats hilarious!

What i do is I type what I have to say before the quote and that always works for me.

I find when I’m at work and I’m using Internet Explorer it works fine most the time.

So if it’s the user’s fault, can somebody explain what the fault in this one is then?
