Just wanted to know if any fellow LB’ers had watched the boxing last nite? I think it was a sad affair for british boxing.
Nicky Cook lost his belt and was beaten by a relative unknown who was not even busy on the night!
Enzo Macrenelli has more or less ended his career as he was embarrased and KO’d by a guy who has had a relativly low KO percentage!
Bradley Prce just got Knokd the f*** out…ultimately ending his careeer!
The only good news was that amir khan has been given the second chance he so badly needed. To be honest if Barrera hadnt been cut so badly, i still think Khan would have just marginally won on points. Never mind…a win is a win.
What does everyone else think…or was i the only person watching it???:w00t:
I heard the Khan/Barrera fight on the radio :doze: - I (got the impression) that Khan was really quick, accurate and aggressive - sounds like he had the edge on Barrera even if Barrera hadn’t got so badly cut.
Went round a mates thank fek there were lots of us as it is easily the worst box office fight i have ever seen. Barrera would and should of KO’d him easy but the guy couldn’t even see because of all the blood. It shouldn’t of even gone 5 rounds it was a joke.
Enzo lost to a good fighter. If you read the American boxing press they all expected Afalobi to win and couldn’t understand the british bookmakers. I know Enzo trains in grappling and Jujitsu and has already turned down an offer from the UFC but i think he should go for it. He’s taken 10 paces back from a world title shot with that loss. Plus the UFC is far cooler for a guy of his size. The only good boxing weights at the moment now are the Lightweights and Welterweights.
Nicky Cooke i felt for he got caught cold - hope he comes back and has a rematch at some point.
Gotta agree with you all the way - Macrenelli was never really that good - and Haye made short work of him - kind of exposed him for anyone else to hit him on the button.
And I got to be honest about Khan, he really has to pick his game up, I know he is young but he is in the spotlight and that was a tired old performance from Barrera. A shadow of his former self - I remember the Moralles - Barrera extravaganza.
After the fight I couldn’t beleive all the positive press Khan was getting. This was the same guy who was knocked out six months ago by Prescott, then beat a journeyman fighter (fagan) and then struggled for five rounds to put away a has been who only had one eye. How does that earn him a world title shot?
If it hadn’t been for the cut I think Barrera would have tagged him sooner or later and ended the fight.
Frank Warren is pushing for a wbo world title fight. The champ is Marquez who would take Khan apart. I don’t think Warren will be stupid enough to put Khan in with Marquez so expect the usual bums to be rolled out for the next few fights.
What got me was how cocky Khan was getting once he could see that Barrera was struggling with just one eye to see, by keep putting his arms in the air like like a victory salute. NO respect for a once great fighter.
I hate to admit it but i was praying for Barrera to stick one on Khans chin and watch him hit the canvas again.
Still he is kinda exciting to watch if just becaus ehe is so cocky(ala Naz).
Now i’m looking forward to the Hatton v Pacquiao fight in May. That will be worth the money:D
