Think this has been done before, but I need to join a breakdown serive - either AA RAC Green flag etc. I used to get the AA free with my bank, but have swapped banks so now need to sort one out. Would like one that will cover me in car as well.
Has anyone had good/bad experiences. They don’t seem to adverise much on their web sites about bikes. Would want a get-you-home service etc etc - Which one is best?
Can’t be much help. Was with the AA until August when it expired and as (the eventually to be ex) Mrs Wiz has the car I didn’t renew. I’m have Call Assist through my insurance but I’ve never had to use them.
I have mine with Carol Nash insurance, they’ve been pretty good. Come to the house as well.
Previously, I had one with the AA, they were pretty good as well, not as quick as Carol Nash though. They picked me up twice, once busted tyre and once crashed, no quibbles, waited for over two hours the second time for them to arrive (it was school run time though).
im with the R.A.C and they are great …not the vehicle its you that is covered… they all roughly use the same breakdown companies anyway.(kavannah/dynes/automotive/s.o.s.)
The driver/mechanic will give you a free lecture you all the way home on how you have bought the wrong bike and you should sell it and buy a ******** instead . Naturally he rides the FASTEST BESTEST bike ever - from the sound of it it has two ex Tornado Jet Engines…
Gets a bit wearing after 10 miles but a very helpful bloke
They are removing all bike support from thier vehicles, and are now using private contractors.
They left me on the side of the M1 at -2degrees for 2 1/2 hours… then on the A1 for 1 1/2 hours then towed the bike to the wrong garage… then didn’t turn up at all.
Im with the AA and never had to use them but going on what Mattc has to say I pray I never will.
Matttc what bike do you own it breaks down a hell of a lot, what are you doing to the poor thing?
I have Nothing but praise for the AA, My clutch snapped off the other week after i attacked it with pliars (was interesting making it home with no clutch…). I have Roadside/Relay so they have to take me (if they cant fix it) to any UK mainland destination…
Which makes you wonder, at 35 ish quid a year to join, thats cheaper than any train ticket to scotland etc… Use the AA if you dont mind sharing a truck with some guy
I digress…
I rang them and even said on the phone to the woman “it will need to be towed to london from uxbridge”… She said we are very busy now we will get there in an hour…
10 Mins later the guy is ringing my phone asking which building i am in, Cue “John” i think it was long story short, or is it a short story long . Either way 15 mins later he has fed through a tempory clutch cable , and its sorted… Nice guy, i emailed the AA to make sure he gets his christmas bonus …
Admittadly my engine hadent blown up but i was impressed…
